My New FLHRSEI2
« on: September 03, 2003, 10:25:13 PM »

My new scooter.  Picked it up on 8/19.  Just rolled over the first 500 miles, and can't wait to do a full roll back on the throttle now that the "break in" miles are behind me.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I finally picked mine up 08/27/03. Took it out of town on a break-in trip. Have over 600 miles on it, and am very pleased. ;D

Thanks Naitram.  I'll post another pic when the chopped tour-pak comes in that will show it and my highway pegs.  I'll be rollin' full on the throttle this weekend when I head over to Bay St. Louis via the gulf coast route this weekend.  There are some killer sights along the way.

I like your luggage rack BIKER77.  Have you been happy with it so far?  I'm probably going to get a rack for my tour-pak instead of one that mounts on the backrest.  I like to look though, and it looks large enough to bungie a tent and bedroll to.

It would have been nice if we could have taken the bikes Home to Milwaukee last weekend.

you may be able to use the 2up detachable luggage rack with the anchor points that you will be using with the tour pack. it holds plenty of stuff and can be used either with or without the back rest.

I didn't have time to go with the two-up rack, because I picked it up on a Wednesday and we left early Friday morning. I needed something quick to mount my t-bag to. The rack is plenty large, and I have no complaints. It comes off with the sissy bar. I don't think I will be getting a tour pack, because we have a very large t-bag
and we figure it will carry a lot more than a tour pack.

naitram,

I like your luggage rack idea.  Do you happen to have a part number for the 2up detachable luggage rack?  The one that BIKER77 is the only one that I seem to be able to find on the HD web site.

Thanks

naitram,

Thinking about getting the V&H slip-ons.  I previously had a Dyna Low Rider with V&H straight shots and loved the sound.  Have you been happy with them?  Do they have a nice sound?  Did you see a performance increase with just the slip-ons?  Do you happen to know what the difference is between the slip-ons and completely replacing the exhaust.  I am not extremely happy with the stock shields.  They are not full shields, and there is a small portion near the rider footboards that is exposed and I already had discoloration at about 350 miles.  This is dissappointing and I am considering taking it in to the dealer to complain.  I was much happier with the V&H pipes on my FXDL.

naitram and BIKER77,

I also noticed both of you replaced the standard low profile, tinted windshield with full windshields.  I am not at all pleased with this sucker.  It does not provide the protection that I demand while on the interstate at speeds in excess of 65 mph.  I need something to protect by face, allows me to not have between meal snacks of bugs, and cuts down on the wind that is absolutely killing my neck.  Can you guys tell me what windshields you went with, and whether they mount to the existing mounts?  I would like to keep the cost down to just the windshield w/o having to buys additonal mount points (that is unless you can give a good reason to pay the extra for a better windshield).

By the way I rolled on the throttle yesterday and I definitely need to get new more free flowing pipes.  May need to do the hi-flo kit and chip as well.  ::)

its just a standard road king windshield. it uses the same mount points as the low profile one that comes on the bike.

I got the adjustable height windshield. It snaps right into the same docking points as the other. I love this one, because I can put it all the way up for the highway, and then lower it when I get into town. [smiley=bigok.gif]

BIKER77,

I noticed that about your windshield on the HD web site.  How quick can you make the adjustments?  This may be worth the extra $$ to me if it is easy enough that I will use it on a regular basis.

Shadow,
It' easier than sliced bread. It has two flip up levers. Flip them up, move the windshield up or down, then flip them back down to lock it in place. You won't be unhappy.

I would have to agree with Biker77 that the adjust.. windshield is a must have addition...it really works!  The bonus is that you can detach it for around town riding.  The two-tone color really looks trick on the SERK.  As far as the luggage rack goes, I prefer the quick detach over the trunk.  There is NO buffeting at highway speeds with the rack vs the trunk.  I've had both.  The added weight of the trunk is another consideration.

BIKER77 & stroker,

Went and ordered the height-adjustable windshield today.  Thanks for the advice.  ;D

As for the trunk, that was ordered when I bought it and there is no turning back on that.  I did buy the premium luggage rack to mount on the top of the chopped tour-pak today.  I hope that I am not dissappointed with this setup   :'(.  Still waiting on the custom painted tour-pak to arrive.

Will using the power curve and megaphone slip-on pipes void the HD warranty on my FLHRSEI2?
Enquiring minds want to know!

i have been very happy with them, i too have noticed the discoloring of the factory pipes. as for performance i did the pipes , air kit , and remapping all at once so i can't say if just the pipes will do it for you.

if you want a complete system. check out bassani

Got a set of Bassini pipes for Christmas.  Slash-Cut.  Pulled the baffels out and removed the "stuffing".  Sounds like it should and throttle resopnse is 20% better!!  No remap!!  Picture is pre pipes.

dvmstr welcome to the board.

Did you get it dynoed?  If not, how is it that you can be sure that it doesn't need to be remapped?  I've never known of an exhaust change that doesn't require a remap.
