Race tuner kit
« on: October 14, 2003, 07:51:01 PM »

I took my 03 Screamin Eagle Road King into dealer last week for 1000 mile service and to have the race tuner kit installed. It already had filter kit and pipes put on when bike was new.I got a call from the dealer today to let me know that it was ready and that the dyno showed 101 RW HP and 108 TQ.
I was wondering if anyone else had any dyno figures

Race Tune results:  I just got my SERK back from having the same work done on it.  Dyno results were close...99HP rear wheel, 101 torque.  I only had 500 miles on my bike at the time.  The dealer said that there would be a slight increase in performance as more miles are logged.  I think that differences in performance could be due to variations of pipes installed.  Some are more performance oriented.  I really like the new sound and smooth, awesome acceleration results of the changes made!

I had Screamin' Eagle slip-ons put on my SERK.  My dealer recommended that we install the "race baffle" in the right side exhaust, add a high flow air cleaner and then race tune.  I also put straight exhaust tips on the end of the slip-ons.  Sound and performance was right on the money.  I was going to to put White Brother tuneable pipes on for more performance, but I found out they all yellow/discolor in no time, so I passed.  Rinehart pipes are good also, but not worth the extra cost for minimal advantage.  I would do the package again in a minute.

Droc:  Tell me more about your Stage 4 setup.  Curious as to what IS still warranted on your ride.  Want to break into the motor myself.  Thanks.

Also...  Anybody know highly skilled HD Race Tuner Kit tuner in Arizona.  Someone who will take the time to MAX the performance (screw fuel economy >:().

Thanks.

jbserk- i had my king serviced over the weekend.  It took 4.5 hours to get it done. And that was done by their "best" wrench who has completerd all race tuner factory classes.  i wish you best of luck finding one.

Ness Big Sucker Stage 1 air box
Rineharts
tuner kit.

most importantly the bike is smooth and a bad-ass sound. Sending me the charts...97 tq/93 hp.  It is true that rineharts lose a little @ 1000-3000....although from 3k-4.5k it'll snap your neck.  Mid to top it pulls like a freight train.

On another note...my anodized billet end cap was scratched during installation and saddlebag lid has 1/8" chip on the edge.  Needless to say i am sick to my stomach....

Mine was making 103.5 HP and 114 lbs of torque with the stock cams.  Just changed to a set of SE 258's andwe are now making 105 HP and 121 torque.

I installed Wild Pig slipons, an oversized K & N breather on the SE breather backing plate, Split tip SE Spark plugs and spent a lot of time on the fuel map.  I have installed my map on three other 103 SERKs so far and got very close results.  The others didn't have the larger breather and that's good for the last 2 or 3 HP at the upper end.  I am still getting about 42 to 43 mpg on the highway and the bike ran like a dream.  ( say ran because I have just recently changed cams, but these figures were with the stock setup).  I am happy to share my map with anyone that wants it.

Stroker-  what did you do to the heads?  Change them completely or just have them modified.  Also, what about the pistons-were they changed or did you just use head change to up the compression.  What is your compression now?  I ask because I stupidly installed a set of SE 258 cams last week without changing the heads or the pistons and these cams (and yours for that matter) don't like 9.0 compression.  I am making 121 lbs of torque, but only 105 HP.

I am about an hour in a half from orange.when the weather warms a little i could bring the beer and a lap top or blank disk.

JCZ-- I dyno tuned it to design both maps that I have.  I haven't had much luck with the race tuner off of a dyno.
