Anyone else receive a call from Harley?
« on: April 25, 2019, 01:39:47 PM »

Yesterday I received a "survey style" call from a lady at Harley to ask basically 2 questions about the factory warranty on my 2018 SERG.

1. On a scale of 1 to 5 what was the importance of the factory 2 year unlimited mileage warranty on your buying decision?

2. Was I made aware of Harleys "winter warranty", being that I took delivery in November (winter) Harley extends your warranty until April 1st, and what effect on a scale of 1 to 5 did this have on my decision to buy a new Harley?

I was also allowed to make a comment on their warranty to which I'm sure most of you can guess my response, especially on the "oh you touched it so the warranty is null and void" issue.

Anyway my skepticism is telling me that Harleys way of cutting yet more corners financially could be to shorten their warranty back to the 1 year from several years ago when they bumped it up to 2 years (don't remember what year that was) and maybe do away with the winter portion as well.

Anyone else receive this call?

Thoughts please!

Even at two years they haven't been competitive with the rest of the vehicle market.  I'd love to see them match the average car warranty; three years bumper to bumper and five years powertrain.  They'd be out of business after the first three years.

When i was on Harleys customer feedback panel they would ask all kinds of questions. Some geared to future product's, some in my opinion leaned toward cost savings like "how long do you expect Harley to maintain factory painted sheetmetal?" Important for CVO and uniquely painted bikes.

I'm sure they are researching every possible cost savings while sales and profits decline. Stock holders demand cost cutting today, less concerned about 5-10 years down the road.

I thought HD went to the two year warranty because of the EU.

I've not received any calls but I did learn something.  I've never heard of a "winter warranty".  I'm guessing that if you purchase one in the winter months in areas where you can't or don't ride until the thaw, your 2 year factory warranty doesn't start until the next riding season (April in this case)?  Or do they start your 2 year but allow for the few extra months (extend) since it's not being ridden?  That's actually pretty cool

They should offer the "just-bought-it-and-gonna-keep-it-in-the-garage-for-2-years-and-look-at-it" warranty for those that don't ride 'em... :huepfenlol2:

Same here.  At $80-85 HD price for a men's shirt, is a heck of a bargain for a comparable non HD shirt that sells for about $30-40.   :huepfenlol2:

I have heard that Indian shirts cost less, are made of more modern fabric and look better...    NOT!

Comparable Indian shirts are $60-70, no idea on fabric, etc. but would avoid wearing one on a Monday....

Marketing by those that don't ride and pay more attention to fashion trends.... anybody (males) that rides realizes when you are sitting that your trousers rise and at those times you don't want anything "slim"... you want room for the "boys". :( >:(
