My project for the last 3 yrs (in my spare time). Factory Five Roadster AC Cobra replica. I started with a bare frame and 'glass body from Factory Five, and have got it to this point by myself. No Mustang donor parts, all new suspension parts, brakes, etc. Fuel cell. Now I'm driving it, just to have a little fun with it while I'm prepping the body for paint (setting gaps on hood, trunk, doors, sanding seams on the 'glass body, etc). This pic was on Hallett road course about an hour west of Tulsa.
I sourced a bare 428 FE block on ebay with standard bore, and I installed a 4.25" Scat stroker crank. Now 455 cu in. Alum heads, intake and water pump. Holley 850 DP. A "snotty" Comp Cams and 10.1:1 forged pistons. Full MSD ignition. I built the engine in my garage over the '09/'10 winter. TKO 600 tranny & IRS rear. 17X8 w/245/45/17's on front and 17X11 w/315/35/17's on rear. Lotsa fun; estimated 525-530 hp at the crank in a 2,300 lb car. It did very well on the road course, but I haven't had it on the drag strip yet. Its traction limited with street tires, but I'm thinking maybe mid to low 11's?
I'll try to finish the body prep this winter and get some primer on it. Haven't decided if I'm gonna paint it myself or use a hired gun.
