Remember reading a fitment schedule for these saying that night work on our classic SERGs.  But the newer light housings interchange in when swapped completely.  So I can't think of a reason why these LED housings wouldn't work either.

I'll not have time to mess with mine for a bit; even if I did have a light here.  So your backorder will probably here in time to let you guinea pig this light on the old bikes.  Will look forward to what, if any, needling little details you uncover.

Looks good on the new bike :2vrolijk_21: .

I wasn't going to mention this but here's an idea.
I have the entire stock housing with headlights that came out of the 12.
If it fits in the 01 then there is no reason the new LED package assembly wouldn't.

That would tell you.  My old bike has already done much the same thing though.  Fitment matrix on the new light says 04 and newer.  My old bike already has an -09 international headlight housing in it.  Went in like it was made for it.

Also, if you look up the headlight parts for an 04 Road Glide (the first year within the fitment description for the new LED light) that bike still uses the - 98 and -01 headlight parts that the years before it did.  So it's hard to understand where the 04 and newer fitment makes any sense.  You should be good to go.

Howdy--

Really nice guy, and manager at local HD told me that these are very bright, but are a direct beam of light that is different than what we are used to.  He rode with them and said he noticed that his lights did not emit the ambient light that normal lights do, so that he did not make street signs (ahead and off the side) reflect ambient light the way normal lights do, and he said as they all went thru a dark tunnel (at night too) his light beam was very bright and wide, but did not make the walls, ceiling, and such "glow" like normal lights.

He explained it as a very bright and direct white beam of light, and "nothing else."  He made it clear the difference would take some getting used to.

I want to try them.  I dig the look and the bright light.  But he was somewhat cautious about them... I believe he had them on a newer EG.  Not brand new, but he said they are the same lights.

What is your take on this?

Thanks for any input!

Did you install these yourself, and if so, was it fairly easy? If you had the dealer install these, would you mind sharing the cost or time involvement?

Installed my LED lamps on Friday, pretty easy to install, with no surprises. The kit comes with two metal plates that get bolted ( and taped ) to the fairing between the openings for the stock lights. The metal brackets sandwich the plastic and help strengthen it for the extra weight of the new lamp assembly.
The lights are very very bright, gonna raise them a little bit. My only complaint ( so far ) you can see them bounce up and down when idling ( especially in the reflection of the car in front of you at traffic light ), and yes, they  are tight and secure. Almost forgot the new bezel (supplied in kit ), is a little flimsy.

Rat Monkey, per your post your "manager" is talking about an Electra Glide.
The lights pictured are on a Road Glide.
What question(s) do "you" have?

Black.

SBB

With the black plastic trim housing around the headlights that's in place on the Road Glides my first guess is that the chrome headlight is going to look a bit out of place compared to how the black light will blend in.  Will be interested to see the first one installed.  Sure many will buy the other just because they don't think beyond the word "chrome."  Black is very likely the much preferred option here though.

My concerns are in the post.
The manager made it clear that these are the same lights...
(They are just now made to fit the RG.)
I am curious about the issues he spoke of and if anyone is experience the same... on a RG.
Thanks
