Need some Speaker suggestions for my 04 SEEG
« on: August 28, 2015, 02:22:05 PM »

Want to upgrade the front speakers on my 04 SEEG. I know this bike has the upgraded system in it and 4 ohm speakers. For now all I really was thinking was putting a direct 5.25 replacement speaker of high quality. Like Focal speakers and maybe getting the Hogtunes HF1. Is this a good option/combo?
I would consider going to 6.25 with adapters also but not sure what all that takes to do.
Any suggestions would be great.

Another relatively inexpensive option to consider is the Polk Audio MM521.  I had HawgWireds in my 05 for quite awhile.  The company was always great to work and the speakers sounded fine.  After having a failure then doing a bit of homework and heeding someone else's experience I tried the Polk Audio speakers.  Clarity was better, they made every bit as much if not more noise, they cost a fair bit less and they weighed a lot less.  Just another good option to consider in a marine grade component speaker.

I have the Hogtunes speakers with the Tweeter Pod on my '05 and it sounds great.  Plenty of volume with no distortion.

I did a complete stereo upgrade to my SERG a few years ago, Apline head unit, hawg wired amps and 5" speakers in the fairing, JL audio amp and focal speakers in the bag. The sound is very good but the hawg wired stuff is costly. If i were to do it again I would go all Focal speakers with a JL Audio amp 600 or 1000 watt in the bag.

If speakers are rated for 50 watts rms, when a peak comes along the speakers will try to draw 10 times the power. The amp would need to be able to deliver 500 watts peak. If the amp can't deliver enough power your  speakers  are toast.
