No Sound from Speakers in the Lowers
« on: July 18, 2020, 10:09:15 AM »

This is on a 2016 CVO Street Glide that I bought last week.  There is nothing coming out of the speakers in the lowers.  I popped one out and hooked another HD speaker to it and nothing with that either.  I don't have my service manual and supplement yet, but it looks like the harness goes to the back of the bike.  There is an amp in each saddlebag.  On both of my prior CVOs (2012 CVO Street Glide and 2014 CVO Limited), I had to replace amps, but I think that it was just one speaker each time if I recall correctly.  Anybody know if there is anything that I can take a look at?  Thanks.

if you go to the harley service information portal, you can enter the bike's vin and pull up a lot of information, owner's manuals, wiring diagrams, parts fiche, etc.  that might help you out some

Thanks.  I have seen that before.  I hooked up the amp from the bag speakers to the lowers speakers.  Still nothing.  It has an extended warranty, so I'll have to take it to the dealership.  Thanks again.

be aware that speakers are not covered under esp.  the amps and headunit are though.  though it does sound like an amp/head problem, just wanted you to be aware.

Not sure how hard it would be but can you take at least one of the lower speakers and just plug it into the connections in one of the saddlebags to see if you get any sound that way? That should eliminate one more step of troubleshooting. I know my dealer has a sign posted that diagnostics are not covered under ESP.

That’s kinda BS, in the auto world, extended warranty’s will pay diagnosis, just not an exorbitant amount.

I don't think that it's the speakers.  They are very easy to take out, so I did and plugged in a speaker that I had from my last bike and it didn't work.  I will try plugging one into the bag area if the connections to the bag speakers are easy to get to.  Regarding the warranty, the dealer said that they would take care of it and also pay my 50 deductible.  I just don't want to leave it there for an extended period of time.  That will be the last resort.
