Intercom question
« on: March 17, 2008, 04:42:29 PM »

Does anyone happen to know what frequency the Harley intercom system uses?

I am trying to find a hand held unit that uses the same frequency that I could use since I don't own a touring model.

(I am hoping to get a midland hand held that I could plug into my Nolan N42 so as to talk to the other riders when in a big group. But no use just buying a unit without knowing which frequency they use.)

Thanks

Intercom or CB radio?  The rider / passenger intercom is hard wired.  Many touring models have CB radios and there are several vendors who can provide you an add-on CB for your bike - http://jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=24 or http://www.sierra-mc.com/products.asp?cat=18  Good luck.

Hmmmm, well then, I know they were talking bike to bike, guess I will have to ask them what they are using to talk to each other.  But I was under an impression it wasn't CB but I could have been wrong there.

Thanks for the info.

There are other options like Ultra stated.  J&M makes a good bike-to-bike RF rig and so does a company called NADY.  Unfortunately, you can't use the intercom system on the bike for that application...that's strictly a rider/passenger wire line setup internal to the bike.

Before Ultra Classic, I used the Better Chatterbox Unit, which can go on Helmet, Bike, Belt, and this works out well as a Wired Intercom between Rider & Passenger, Play MP3, and also will connect to cell phone by wire to answer calls if you desire(I do not want to talk on phone while riding). And also has good range if (2) have this unit for Bike to Bike. It has rechargable function, and held up well for a day or so usage before charging. Range was a couple of miles or so. But as previously mentioned will not work with with Riders on CB's. The Better Unit can be best purchased on internet sight, Chatterbox.com, or E-Bay, or other links.
Good Price to pay would be Slghtly over $220.00 per Chatterbox.
