Maybe my experience is a one off. But I just assumed "they all do that".
I plan to try the warranty route, Dunlop says you must return to the selling dealer if it is a oem tire.
Soooooo. My selling dealer has been closed for 2+ weeks because of the Covid 19.

Might have to borrow my sisters Vespa just to get out and ride. I can wear a mask (for coronavirus protection) and hopefully no one recognizes me.

Gotta have a sense of humor in times like these.

Noticed my tire looked like that at the end of the season last year, not as bad. My tires have just under 15,000 on them. Haven't changed it yet cause bike is still covered in the corner of the garage. Mine are on a 16.  See what they look like when I uncover it in the next week or so, hopefully.

Just curious, you mentioned that you maintain the tire pressure meticulously. What sort of loads have you been carrying?

Wow,

I got over 15,000 on the back tire, that I changed out during the winter. No problems.

Good luck -

Definitely not looking good!!! I usually get 5-6 thousand out of mine, depending on how much I goof off...

Just myself. 230 lbs and a normal 3 days worth of clothes for long road trips. I have even verified the TPMS against my tire gauge to make sure they stay accurate. I travel light for 7-12 day trips.

I have 17000 miles on my 18 RG CVO factory tires. And no they are not cupping they are close to the wear mark now. I do look at them and check air psi each time I ride it n it just me on the bike. Now my front tire on my 12 CVO RG is cupping and it has close to 15000 miles on it. I ride normal no hard take outs and I stop normal also.
