First ride of the year - first impressions
« on: April 12, 2015, 08:08:45 PM »

Bought my 2015 CVO in December and of course being in Mass all I could do was look at the bike. Well today I picked her up out of storage and took a leisurely 150 mile spin. My impressions.... What an awesome machine! A lot more torque than my 2014 Street Glide Special. Though I kept her under 3500 RPM she feels sooooo nice. The boom Stage II - Phenomenal!!! Cruising listening to the tunes... clear and as loud as I want. Just loving everything about the bike! Well almost everything... I am 6'1" maybe 6'2" on a good day with a 32 inch inseam. I know the seat is a bit lower than my 2014 Street Glide but it seems to make a difference. Anyone similar in height have opinions on the seat, wish it were a bit higher?

Cant wait to get out there again!

I'm 6 feet and I feel great, although I am going to add HW pegs. I did tap my toe of the left lower more times than I cared for, but other than that it was an awesome first ride, got mine Sat.

Positives

no tank badge keeps my ocd cool as my leg isn't touching the actual last piece of a tank badge
Sounds amazing
Rides easy
Love the fuel cap
engine runs great I was in 4th gear way more often than 5 or 6th at highway speeds...this engine wants to be pushed.

A few complaints

My volume up/ down toggle quits working and I have to shut down the bike and restart for it to work
XM signal is horrible it cuts off on average once per song.
Ran hot in traffic..engine oil temp hit 357 at one point!

I also bought a 2015 cvo sg (in mass) this winter. I am 6'0 with a 34 inseam. I agree the seat is too low (or footboards too high) . I have just turned 400 miles on mine and the only way I am actually comfortable is with my feet on the highway pegs. I did just purchase an aftermarket rider backrest that helps a little because I tend to sit a little farther back most of the time.  I wish I could move the footboards to a different position.

Took another ride the other night, and maybe the seat is growing on me. Only time will tell. Highway pegs are on the plate for sure. I am confused even more now as I have been told the CVO seat is actually a slight be higher. Maybe its just the long winter confusing me.....

I found adding the highway pegs to help quite a bit. I bought the ones which place my feet furthest away. I also put Klock Werks Ergo up&back bars on the bike. The wider and straighter bars change my upper torso position to a more up and forward stance which in turns causes my seated position to change, slightly making more room for my legs because I am no longer slouching in the seat. The bars I purchased work with stock wiring so no need to buy new cable or harness. I did have to purchase a wire extension, a small piece of plug-n-play harness for the wiring sold with the bars.
Switch to the Fullsac DX pipe and baffles with TTS mastertune. There is a giant leap in seat-O-pants power, a serious upgrade in sound without getting noisy and a huge drop in heat due to the catalytic converter being gone. All working great on my new 15 SG.

The DX pipe comes with a full size crossover pipe which is shown in the picture, the CX uses the stock crossover from your bike which is half the diameter. The DX will allow better exhaust flow to the left side. If your thinking you may do motorwork down the road such as cams and or bump up your compression get the DX if not the CX will do the trick. If your not sure and have a few extra bucks to spend buy the DX.
