Title: Oil cooler??
Post by: 09BlueRoadKing on April 03, 2012, 09:50:26 PM
Just recently installed v&h big radius on the wifes 2011 convertable and was told by harley techs it didnt need a tuner, long story short took it to get dynoed with super pro tuner and was told on first stock run the rear cylinder was extremely lean, go figure. Anyway Ed (The dyno difference in dallas) recomended we install an oil cooler on the bike. It seems like harley should of done this from the factory as now all 103 motors on the baggers have them. Anyone install one on the convertable?? Pics?? By the way my name is Sonny, and I welcome you all to the forum ;D

Ed worked magic with my bike - great guy!!!!   Don't think you could go wrong with adding an oil cooler if your bike didn't come standard with one.

Maybe it is just me but is there some confusion here?  The 2011 CVO Convertible has both a 110" motor and an oil cooler from the factory.   :nixweiss:  April fools was yesterday,  So, what am I missing?    :nixweiss:

Lever, have you been able to get any oil temp readings since your build with the oil cooler in place?

This is the oil cooler I went with, at 90 degrees my oil tank temp stays around 180. I have 10.1 pistons so I wanted my gas to burn from the flame from the plugs and not cylinder temps!

I have to apologize for always reviving old threads, but every day I understand & know new things especially about air cooled engines. So now what is this issue about oil coolers. To give u an idea, am living in a place where the lower temperatures at 12 AM can reach ...... Well, I will leave the picture to express (http://img.tapatalk.com/bc461a08-663b-9d51.jpg)

Would I go with the one from the stealer or there is a more efficient one ?

I think the MoCo cooler and the Jagg 1100 are the best for our bikes - just my opinion though. I am absolutely installiong one I just have to decide which one. I like the Harley one because it fits between the frame members and you can install the fans behind it. But, I think the Jagg cooler is a better cooler. If the Jagg cooler will fit between the frame members then I will prolly choose that one. My 10.8 CR even with a good tune has me hitting the rear cylinder shut down mode when sitting for just short periods of time.

well i turn my fans on when my speed is below 45mph  when doing so my oil temp stays below 220 with air temp aprox mid 90's

Does it come with 2 covers? Black & Chrome? Because on the website, the P/N 26157-11 says kit includes black cover

What I have seen in Touring that if u twist the throttle in upward direction , it is activated but I tried it in the convertible , it didn't work !

The dealer here says that 26157-11 is side mounted with only black cover, not like the ones previously posted in pics. Is that true ?

2010 has throttle cable. Can you do it with cables?

Don't think the 10's have that provision, but it should tell you in the OM

Thats what I was told also and I don't like the look of the side mount.  Dealer said the center mount cooler wont work on bikes with ABS.

That's cause on other bikes the abs module is in the way, but that is not the case on our bikes as the abs is hidden

What do yall think of the Oil Bud coolers, I am thinking of using one of those as I like keeping the front of my bike looking clean and uncluttered.

I like the oil bud it would be ideal but it appears to mount to the frame under the bike and i would no longer be able to use my J & S jack and that would suck.
