I would agree that is a very nice color combination.  Overall I find the 2016's a big disappointment.  Harley Davidson corporate shows a lack of imagination, with basically the same color schemes, same chrome parts bin, and seems to have cheapened up on the CVO's since 2013, while asking for 5gs more than I paid for my 2012 Wicked Sapphire/Stardust Silver.

If I were to buy a Rushmore, I would go for a left over 2015 with 5K knocked off.  There's just nothing new or exciting in the 2016 CVO's imo.  Very little activity on the Harley Forums, speaks volumes about Moco's lack of imagination.

Haven't been on much lately. Looks like more of the same. I will say the red CVO SG is a beauty but it's really not anything new I just like the paint.  :nixweiss:

How you getting this count? CVO's only? All Models, CVO and non-CVO? You include the Street Glide as a Touring Model or the Road King?
Just curious.

My 2012 SESG looks better all the time since it's paid for.  :)  Seriously, even if I really like the new infotainment system, in the end it's not enough reason to upgrade.

Zumo 665 can give you nearly everything that's in that infotainment system except the CB. And the map route directions will be better to boot.

I have to agree that the CVO line up is a real disappointment, although cheaper than 2015 model year, even in Canada which given the way the USD has strengthened against the CAD over the last 12 months, is somewhat surprising. However, all bets are now off as everyone seems to have joined the route.

Looks like the S models are using up old 110 air cooled engines. Nice idea and more of what Harley should be doing, innovation, if that is not an oxymoron, given that they are not using anything 'new new'!  :nixweiss:

I just don't get these guys. They are completely ruining the CVO marque.  Look at the pic of the "Inspiration" Streetglide Special. It makes the, CVO Streetglide loom like a Kmart knock-off.

The thing that just make,s me do the "head scratch" is ... It's a well known fact that CVO OWNERS SPEND MORE AT HARLEY SHOPS (P&A, motor clothes, etc) than all other owners - yet the "should have been the new CVO Streetglide" is just an SGS with P&A bolt ons.

This bike with a 120r is what CVO was f$%*ing CREATED for. NowI fear the designers and engineers have gotten as old as the target market. I am smack in THAT market and would rather build a new ( or better yet - low mile '14 SGS) into something like this before buying a CVO.

Not that I was going to buy one, but I was dissapointed the '16 CVO SG is using the same graphics as the '15s, just in different color schemes.  Has HD ever done this on the CVOs before?  I can't recall two different year models using the same graphics.  The black CVO SG is no different than the '15.5 model, which was an emergency replacement for the yellow SESG with the problem paint.  I can foresee quite a few CVOs on the showroom floor in Aug 2016.

The CVO Limited from 14 and 15 had the same paint scheme, just different colors.  Same with the 15/16 CVO RGU.

While I'm not a fan of recycling the paint schemes, I do think Harley got it right this year with the CVO RGU colors.  The red/silver and the silver/silver schemes look really nice this year, at least on the website.  I prefer them over the 15 CVO RGU...

But yes, lame to recycle paint schemes on bikes that cost over $36K and have the word 'Custom' in their trim level designation...

Any thoughts as to why the CVO SG (at least) went back to air shocks vs the coils on the 15 and prior?

Is this air system the same as the old air system.

Gotta say, HDs site is impossible to find the changes on, and I don't much care for the multi-view color selectors.

I'm looking forward to seeing the red in person, don't much care for the white/black or the purple/blue.  The black with Ghost flames is ok...

I do wish for the color matched vent.  It's an item in the P&A catalog, but not listed with last years CVO colors so far as I can tell.

If I am not mistaken the graphics on the website for the CVO Roadglides has changed since yesterday gone on my view are the ugly flames. Will have to wait until dealers have something in stock for a reality check. This is the absolute worst rollout of new models that Harley has done in years. I used to enjoy the rollout at Sturgis.

I also find it interesting that the CVO RGU is the most expensive in the line up.
I think that is a first?

EDIT: I looked it up for 2015 and the RGU was $300 more than the Limited last year

while i agree with you partly, have you taken a look at the parts list that makes up that street glide?  $23k for the bike, plus $6k for the paint job, $2k for the wheels, and probably another $10k or more for all the other farkles and it makes the cvo look like a bargain.

Couldn't agree more TIF. The limited paint set on the SG Special is in a different league to the CVO. Bet that's painted in a different shop!!  CVO graphics from 2014  are very amateurish.

You can go to the HD website Bike Builder and add numerous options like rims, color, inner fairing color etc.  Was that an option last year also or is that new for 2016??

I agree- boring 2016 lineup that amounts to a big yawn. This is why Indian and Polaris will continue to steal market share from H-D.

I agree totally. I don't like that they have been sticking with the same designs and just changing colors.  If you look at the 15' and 16' CVO Road Glide paint scheme, it looks very similar to the 2011 CVO Road Glide.  The Red one came out in the lineup last year and they brought back the dark grey one this year.  I hope they don't bring back the tan and brown leisure suit next year.

The Red 11 SERGU and the Red 15 SERGU look almost Identical.  The tour pack change what made one able to tell which was which when I saw them parked side by side.

Zero effort put into paint design for the 15 and now the 16 SERGU.  Very sad on a 40 K bike they can't come up with a new design and graphics.  Colors are nice, but the same old design is old.

I am smack in THAT market and would rather build a new ( or better yet - low mile '14 SGS) into something like this before buying a CVO.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/street-glide-special.html#!customization

Just so silly to put pics of a bike up that makes the CVO look like ass in a hand bag

If they had a CVO with that paint job, I think I would be very tempted to get on the wait list to buy one.  I think that would be a hard one to keep on the floor without selling it immediately, and then we would all end up with the same one.  That's a damn nice paint set.

How you getting this count? CVO's only? All Models, CVO and non-CVO? You include the Street Glide as a Touring Model or the Road King?
Just curious.

Only three CVO's shown on the site, and all three are Touring models.  The EG, RG, RK and the SG are all classified as Touring models by H-D, as opposed to Softails or Dynas.  Kind of surprising they didn't include a Softail, but there again those don't sell as well as the Touring line and it's all about money and sales figures.  Harley severely needs to prop up the Dyna and Softail lines with some new and exciting content, rather than just beat the Touring horse to death.  Maybe next year, or the next, or ?  I guess we'll see if the new management team will be more forward thinking than the last few, or if they will be willing to just keep beating the one horse they still have until it throws a shoe. :nixweiss:

Yep ... another head-scratcher ... they go to the trouble of putting the 110 in the Fatboy S but don't do a CVO version.

Is it fair to assume that the 2015 CVO's hit the mark as the demand was pretty strong.  Assuming most of them have been sold?   The expectations for the 2016 CVO lineup was pretty high considering the success of the 2015 models and was going to be tough to beat.   I couldn't be happier with having the 2015 CVO SG Hard Candy/Mercury.   It would take a lot to make me want to look at another bike to trade in the Hard Candy bike.

At a local dealer - they have at least 8 - 10 CVO's still for sale (just the touring models). They still have the CVO RG on the floor they were playing hardball for. I told them I would give them $10k plus my '14 CVO Limited and they wouldn't go for it. They held out for $800. That was back in January!!! They don't seem to be selling like they used to. Glad your happy with yours.

Seems in my area the CVO King had to be heavily discounted to move them in 14, but the other Touring CVO's sold well with out heavy discounts.

The CVO deluxe also had to have discounts to move them.

The 15 CVO Limited, CVO SG and CVO RGU all sold pretty well with out discounts.

I love my 13 CVO King and have no intention of selling or trading.  My 15 CVO RGU will be traded on a 17 most likely.

I was looking for that as well. If anyone finds information on ordering the color matched vent/mail-slot for previous years please share with us.

The 2016 P&A catalog now has the mail slot painted in factory colors for all Rushmore bikes.

Yep looking at this years 2016 lineup, I didn't expect anything special and that's what we got,
I didn't think they would change the Graphics on the street glide Cvo because if you look at the Cvo limited that had the same graphics  in 2014 and 2015 just different colours! ....if one thing the MOCO are becoming its "Predictable".

However best colour on the Cvo street glide this year is easily the hard candy red, but they should have had silver or carbon dust flames as a contrast that would have been awesome!
Hate the crappy flame look on the bat wing of the street glide special, looks like a poor mans cvo(ah wait I suppose it is really,)
The "S" series however is interesting, note that it's just basically an engine upgrade,  I would say Harley are going to bring more bikes over into this "S" series in the next few years, maybe road king then heritage, that's a clever way of eventually getting all bikes having the 110 engine as stock but under the guise of this "s" series, so there drip feeding us the 110 engine under this new family .....can't say I blame them really smart move I say!

Zumo 665 can give you nearly everything that's in that infotainment system except the CB. And the map route directions will be better to boot.

Which is why I outfitted HoneyBadger with a RoadTech 665 and the NIM a few months after I bought her! Even got free lifetime updates. It's all I need or want in Nav, and it has XM to boot... Although I don't even have an XM subscription because my iPhone has all of my music on it anyway.

I agree with many others here that the 2016 lineup is BORING. REALLY BORING!

The MoCo has truly lost its soul, and the bean counters are fully in charge. The 2016 CVO paint jobs are just plain BORING, and the colors are quite uninspiring... as well as BORING.

Did I mention they are BORING? I might have...

What ever happened to the brilliant, creative CVO paint jobs of Yore? They are gone... likely forever, as the MoCo tries to appeal to the Lexus/Mercedes/BMW crowd with REALLY BORING colors and very conservative graphics.

What passes for flames on the non-CVOs this year is just embarrassing... They look like cheap, poorly-done decals that were done by a first-year art student... and the saddlebag lid flames are just plain RETARDED-looking.

And what were they THINKING with that God-awful pinkish-purple on the non-CVO BIKES? Good LORD! I wouldn't be caught DEAD on a bike that color! Ditto for the dark green... but I have never liked any green bike - with the SINGULAR exception of the MAGNIFICENT 2011 Krypto SESG... which I think is one of the prettiest colors EVER. Next to Hot Citrus, of course... and the Ruby Red on HoneyBadger's FLHXSE3 siblings.

Everyone in the MoCo's design department should be SACKED! I really miss Willie G...

And isn't it PAST time to retire that awful Amber Whiskey? It's always looked like a glass of Jack that someone forgot at the bar to me. It's just an orange wannabe.  There isn't a proper ORANGE anywhere in the entire line for 2016! That's just unforgivable...

However, I do kinda like that Superior Blue - if you like blue bikes. Blue is just not for me, though...

HoneyBadger is looking better and better... And she has a permanent home here at the BadgerDen!

Best CVO Colors EVER:
Hot Citrus (on the 2012 FLHXSE3 - on the TOP, where it SHOULD be...)
Tequila Sunrise (only on the 2010 SESG - the original SESG, the FLHXSE... 24K gold flake in the clear, over a Scarlet base coat)
Krypto Green (only on the 2011 FLHXSE2)
Electric Orange (or whatever the orange is on D00D's gorgeous SEEG... Cuz it's AWESOME! I think it was the orange on the beautiful O/B 2009 SERGC, too)

Best Non-CVO Colors EVER:
Mirage Orange Pearl - hands down WINNER!
Tequila Sunrise (the complex orange non-CVO version)
Turquoise/Antique White
ANY Pearl White E-Glide

I fully agree - the colour-schemes for the Streety are just a little different, with the disadvantage, that my faved black/gold dust isn´t available any more. Why can´t they offer a range of schemes, and the customer can pick his faves ... IF they hold their hands up for that amount of money, individual paint should be no problem. Porsche, Lambo, Rolls etc. offer this for years.

What do you think - I´m disappointed with the 2016-colour-scheme-offer. Would the stability in terms of value be ruined, respectively the "CVO"-status, if I buy a black one and have it custom-painted???

In times past, I would have said NEVER repaint a CVO, because the paint is one of the primary things that gave it its resale value. Old cars with original paint fetch far higher dollars at auction than repainted ones... especially for certain high-demand models with limited-edition factory paint jobs.

But the way things have been going with CVOs, that might not be so true anymore. They are making quite a few CVOs these days, so the resale value will likely never be what it used to be for more classic CVO models. Who knows 10-15 years down the line?

That said, this custom paint set is WAAAY better looking than the 2016 CVO paint.

I think I see a trend... The MoCo probably wants to sell these high dollar paint sets, because of the profit they make on them. If I were going to repaint any bike, I'd go to a good custom painter and get a REAL one-of-one custom paint job before I would fork over the bucks to the MoCo for any of their so-called "custom" paint sets.

Krypto Green (only on the 2011 FLHXSE2)  The only great green paint.

Tequila Sunrise (the complex orange non-CVO version)  IIRC, it was called Sedona Orange
Turquoise/Antique White
ANY Pearl White E-Glide

Added:  Black Ice, the color-changing one.

WOW, that´s goodlookin!
What do you think - I´m disappointed with the 2016-colour-scheme-offer. Would the stability in terms of value be ruined, respectively the "CVO"-status, if I buy a black one and have it custom-painted???
What's with the aerial? Are MoCo going backwards in 2016.

Yeah, just see it your way - IF custom paint, then not from HD-options! I got a good artist!

I am smack in THAT market and would rather build a new ( or better yet - low mile '14 SGS) into something like this before buying a CVO.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/street-glide-special.html#!customization

Just so silly to put pics of a bike up that makes the CVO look like ass in a hand bag

I am also disappointed, I wouldn't trade mine for the new one. I think I will probably end up slapping that Jims 134cc in her.

Honestly, only 4 CVOs have ever just grabbed my attention.  The Gold 03 SERK, the black/white skunk shark (2011, I think), and the '13 SERK (red and the blue).  I assembled a 113 for it this past winter.  Next spring, I'll probably buy an S&S 124.  This bike is my last new one.

while i agree with you partly, have you taken a look at the parts list that makes up that street glide?  $23k for the bike, plus $6k for the paint job, $2k for the wheels, and probably another $10k or more for all the other farkles and it makes the cvo look like a bargain.

Idk. I looked up that "Nightmare" paint job and its $4495 retail so ~$3600 from a 20% dealer. I think the key to any "bargain" is if you can turn your own wrenches. Shopping at a 20% off dealer and NOT paying $100 per hour shop labor pretty safe to say you could do "Nightmare" SGS with a 120R for around $40k. That is INCLUDING most of the stuff that owners will always change (audio upgrades, pipes, bars, etc).

The MoCo, had they cared about the SOUL of CVO, could easily have done it and still made a good profit. It's really sad they don't.

Not many people leave their CVO's stock anyway. The only thing missing would be the "CVO" badging and my opinion is that marque has less and less "cache" compared to what it was developed for.

Looked in the parts book at the dealer the other day for that paint on an RG, Price was about the same except they said that didn't include the bags for another $2100. Maybe they looked at it wrong but that's crazy money just to change tins if the bags aren't included.

Agreed

I looked further on the website and the bags and inner fairing are sold separately
Makes me wonder if the side covers are included as well

If the CVO line-up is really hand built, assembled, whatever, how hard can it be to walk over and grab a few custom ordered painted parts and slap em on?

I think the CVO is at a price point that should offer customer ordered paint colors and schemes.

If a person was able to order the paint and say have to wait 8 weeks to get it, so what.

Don't tell me it would be too costly, it's the same damn body parts that are on all the bikes.

They keep going back and forth with the color matched inner fairings and I don't get that. I love a color matched inner fairing, but I'll be damed if I'm gonna pay $1500-$2000 above what I already paid for the bike to do it.

What your seeing is the lower level bikes rising to the CVO level, and the CVO bikes are somewhat stagnant.

I agree with all of you, a real disappointment, no incentive to spend this year.

if you want to add that paint set to a roadglide, including saddlebags, painted inner fairing, and chopped tourpak, the msrp is over $9800.  and that doesn't include the mounting hardware and backrest for the tourpak.

i think it would be cheaper to buy a used set of tins and have joe z custom paint it.

the cvo bikes are no longer 'hand assembled', haven't been for a few years now.

They are now built on the same line as the other touring bikes.  2009 was the last Hand built year.

The paint this year is just a rehash of last year, and on the CVO Road Glide it was a copy of 2011.  They really need to up the paint designs for the road glide ultras CVO.

I bought a 2015 CVO street Glide last week, after waiting to see what the 2016 lineup would bring.  I admit I did really like the red SG, but the deal I could get on the 15 far outweighed the color choice.  The feature changes were almost none (TPMS, Key Fob, Painted Mail Slot and LED front turn signals)...just not enough to justify the premiums the dealer wanted on a '16 (over MSRP) vs big discounts on  2015.  I am really happy with my first CVO!

Sedona Orange is a darker, burnt-orange color. I think it was used in 2011. My wife almost bought a RK in Sedona Orange.

Tequila Sunrise (non-CVO version) is a very bright orange with several different colors of metal flake in it. I think it was used in 2013. It's a very pretty color that was used with a solid Harley Orange on some of Touring bikes, and maybe the Heritage. I've heard Ultras in this color called  "Creamsicle" bikes. You either love it or hate it!

I totally agree!!!!!

Mine was "Hand Assembled" and the Hands still f'd up :huepfenlol2: and I had to tighted a whole bunch of bolts and install a new throttle body gasket as the Hand assembler screwed the throttle body gasket almost blocking the complete hole and had to be staring right at it as he drilled the screws in on purpose. :'(

Talking bout the 2016 colours: Has anyone seen the new ones live? My dealer in vienna told me, that the >black licorice with midnight cobalt flames< is actually a very deep purple with well matching blue flames ... Comes that close, or is it just black with a harsh blue (not so good contrast)?

thx all! Gerhard.

Looks like MoCo has something up their sleeves for a mid year release.  Check out the displacement figures on this carb report. (scroll to the third page)

That's quite interesting. Perhaps they are moving away from CVO altogether?

I'm not sure how tight CARB is on exact models - i.e. - if it says "Streetglide" is "CVO Streetglide" acceptable from CARB?
Just seems odd that they would offer the 120 in 6 touring models and none of them have a CVO designation?

They were just submitting the 120's in those models for emissions purposes only.   Didn't mean they were coming out with bikes with the 120 in them.   My guess is that they want to see how it does for a year or 2 and then make it the new CVO motor.  Maybe even a custom option.

I thought they already had the 120ST as a "Factory Option" when purchasing a new bike.
Wouldn't that imply that these are floor (production) models?

Local dealer said you could get the 120ST as a "factory" option for the 2016 CVO line, but I don't see any of those models listed in the CARB.  :nixweiss:

That would be the first I've heard of that.   As far as I know it's just a motor swap at the dealer like the 120R or doing an upgraded stage kit to the motor.   To get the 120ST put in will run about $11k out the door.  If it were a true option from the factory there would be an uncharge but shouldn't be $11k worth since it would be built on the line that way.

On the CARB site it states ..... "BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the replacement engines covered by this Executive Order are valid only for production in the
model-year listed above and for the 2016 model-year vehicle models certified under Executive Order M-005-0216 and listed in
Attachment A."

So if you are in Cali and want to add a 120S to one of the 2016 models listed you can do it and know it meets the emission requirements for the state.  I guess there would be no reason a dealer couldn't offer this as a "dealer installed option" if they so choose.   If their definition of factory option includes anything they install as well then it does look like a "factory option" of the 120S is available in the models listed.  But as noted by TIFF2 there are no CVO models listed so .............. ???  Maybe no twin cooled 120 is why  :nixweiss:

I think we may be confusing the issue here...   All I was saying is that you can't walk into a dealership and say " I want to order a 2016 (from the factory) with a 120ST."  Also, if someone in Cali is going to pay the money, at a dealer, to have a new 120ST installed they are not going to give a rats ass as to whether or not it meets emissions standards because to meet that standard you would have to install the factory exhaust that HD recommends.  That person would choose the exhaust to get the best performance and sound for their liking and that would throw the CARB report right out the window. And the warranty as well if MOCO wanted to push the issue.
