DFO / TFI Engine Stumble
« on: July 07, 2005, 11:28:59 AM »

I'm running a RevTech DFO and have developed a slight stumble in the engine.  Seems to be particularly pronounced after a cold start following a rain or a very dewy morning.  Sounds like it is running rich or dropping one cylinder.  Goes away after the engine is up to temperature

Anyone else out there with a DFO or TFI have this issue?  I'm assuming I've got a poor connection to the injectors (or a circuit board issue on the DFO itself).  My model DFO is the one with the pre-wired injector connectors.  I plan on pulling the tank and hitting all the connectors with dielectric grease.  Any other suggestions?

My understanding is that the DFO is nothing more than a US version of the TFI with the RevTech logo.  The TFI is the Canadian version.  Is that right, eh???

The TFI and DFO are one and the same - the DFO is made for Rev-Tech.  See the Techlusion web site http://www.techlusion.com/

By the way, you can call or e-mail them and they will discuss any issues you may be having.  The numbers and e-mail address are on the web site under "contact".

I contacted TFI directly and they gave me a couple of suggestions.  I mounted the DFO unit inside the right hand side cover with the wiring harness pointed skyward.  Well, apparently I shouldn't have done that.  Water can wick down the wires and into the unit.  They suggested that I remount the unit with the wires pointing down.   [smiley=wall.gif]Gee Mr. Obvious, I shoulda known!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wound up mounting mine under the left side cover, after looking at the mess under the right side.  I've got it stuck to the cruise control with the wires pointing straight ahead -actually they loop down a little first, then up through the frame.  Makes a little "drip loop".  Easy to access for adjustments without the clutter of the right side.
