Gas in the European countries run about $2 to $3 a liter. Now what is screwed up is it is only 70 cents a gallon in the Middle East country of Qatar. So there really is no reason for gas to be as high as it is.

Gas in Port Colborne Ontario (my home town) is $ 114.5 /liter ($ 435.00/US gal) I drive 20 min. from home and cross the US border into Niagara Falls NY and gas is $ 317.00 /USgal ( 83.4 cents /liter)

even with the cost of the tolls I can save about $ 30.00 on a fill up in my truck.

Here in Ontario about 1/3rd of the total price of gas is government tax so the oil co. is getting about 76 cents /liter from the $ 114.50 we pay at the pump.

£5.76 1.4 $ = £1.00 1 imp gal = $8.06

We are getting reemed in Australia as well $1.30 a litre or $5.85 a gallon but who cares, when I want to go for a ride you always find the money.

DAMN ,, read this and darn near had a heart attack. I buy my gas in the Falls. had to read it again to realize you put your decimals in the wrong spots. NOT NICE TO SCARE ME LIKE THAT.

I believe you ment $4.35 a us gal. on your side and $3.17 a gal. on mine.

I was almost ready to start (walking). what a scary thought.

I paid $3.76/gal yesterday.......and climbing. Fact is, if you have to worry about putting gas in your bike, you should be riding metric anyway. JMHO.

I thought gas was expensive ---- until I went to Las Vegas and bought a bottle of water ( 12 ounces) for $4.00 I am no mathematician, but I think that is around $42.00 a gallon for something that falls from the sky for free. That is still half the price of their beer. By the way gas is now at $3.60 and quickly on the rise in Vegas.

If someone had told me I would buy water out of a bottle and pay more for it than Coke or Petrol I would have laughed, just shows how good these marketing people are, look at the effort to make a gallon of fuel compared to bottling water?

People have been complaining about the rising price of gasoline recently, but I have always thought that gas was a good value (especially if you were to take the $0.30, $0.40 per gallon tax off at the pump)! Obviously others need a little convincing. So the article in this week's "Autoweek" magazine brought it all to light. What if you were to buy a gallon of . . .

Garfield on the oil crisis

A lot of folks can't understand how we came
to have an oil shortage here in Canada .

Obviously a good reason to raise prices?

Well, there's a very simple answer.
Nobody bothered to check the oil.

We just didn't know we were getting low.

The reason for this is purely geographical.

Our Oil is located in:
Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Manitoba, and off the coasts of Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland.

Our DIPSTICKS are located in OTTAWA
