BUSHTEC SPARE TIRE/WHEEL
« on: March 18, 2014, 04:15:17 PM »

When I bought my Bushtec I also bought a spare tire and wheel thinking it was probably a waste of money.  Wrong!

One of my tires had a slow leak, so before leaving for Daytona last week I bought new tubes and had a local Honda dealer install um.  Big mistake!

After about 150 miles I noticed a slight vibration in the bikes front end.  When I changed lanes the vibration seemed to go away which made me think it was ripples in the asphalt causing the vibe.  Wrong!  When I stopped for gas the right tire was flat and destroyed.  Couldn't believe how well the trailer behaved with a flat tire at 80 mph!

Had the necessary tools and was back on the road in minutes.  First stop in Datona was the Buchtec vendor on Beach St for a new tire and tube!

If you own a Bushtec, buy a spare!

I agree. Although I have never had a flat on my Bushtec I just purchased a spare tire and wheel.  Getting ready to take a long ride so felt it would be best to be like a scout and be prepared.  You have confirmed my thoughts.

I had my trailer for about 3 years and I thought maybe luck could run out without a spare.
Called Bushtec one day, asked if they had any takeoffs, the guy called me back, offered me
a takeoff with a tire and bearings for $100 + shipping. When I got it, it has a brand new tire,
tube and bearings. I have been a happy camper ever since, even thou I haven't needed it!

Have not carried a spare wheel with tire but I do carry a new tube.  Hoping that will suffice should I get a flat.

Pulling an Aluma, but a spare always comes along. Hopefully it will dry rot laying in the trailer without ever being used

Mine came with one. I figured it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
Always check the air pressure before you leave on a trip.
