Harley shoulda had you in the room when they were doing to the design work on that bike. Looks like the way it should have come out of the box. Nice job.

Nice, I am just a little jealous, when we bought our SEUC I wasn't willing to pay $4000 more for black. So if you decide to go back to the shiney side let me know I have a blue 2010 SEUC.

I have to say when the black color scheme came out I wasn't impressed, in fact I just didn't like it at all. It's funny how taste can change because I think that is an awesome job, love the colors and would consider that in a heartbeat if I was in the position to make a decision.
Congratulation she's a beauty

Thank you guys for all the positive replies! I did all the work by myself and would say that I am pretty proud of the result. Now I'm waiting for the warm temperature! I'm planning on doing the Blueridge and the dragon in July.

I've never been a big fan of the blacked out look. Of all those that I've saw over the past few years, there's only been two or three that I liked. I have to say that this is one of them.....very, very nice! :2vrolijk_21:

Yep, very nice...a lot of attention to detail and esp. sweet that you did it yourself. Are all those fasteners the stock ones. If so, that'll be the finishing touch should you wish to change those out to the black ones. I know that Diamond now offers the complete kits in black. Or you could use polished stainless for a unbelievable contrast on that black beauty. Hope to see it in person this summer in the Blue Ridge mtns. spyder

What do you mean by stock fasteners? Are you talking about bolts and screws?

yep....the stock ones only look decent until you roll it out into the elements and then they start deteriorating and put a blemish on the otherwise shiny motor/tranny/covers/etc. Harley makes some 'covers' for certain ones like the rocker box bolts, but all the others just continue to corrode and look 'sorry' against the chrome & custom finish of the CVO's. spyder

I think a 5.56 round mounted in just the right place would be fitting for your scooter with that handle. :2vrolijk_21: spyder

Looks like a lot of time and effort, and well worth it!!! Ride safe!

Here's a pic of mine with the black treatment. :jalapeno:

Oh I see! I'll keep an eye on those and may use your idea! Thanks for the suggestion!

Question for 5.56mm.
Friend is about to pull the trigger on a 11 FLTRU in vivid black and add a lot of blacked out parts. The dealership we stopped at on Sat had already done up 2 bikes like this. As I was looking over one of them which the dealer had put 2500 miles on, I noticed signs of wear on the black luggage rack, mars and abrasions, that won't buff out. The mufflers and shields, had some indications of fading. Just wondering how yours has held up? Dealer couldn't tell us, if if the parts were black chrome or powder coat.

Yes but I'm in Key Largo, FL and heading to Key West in the morning. I'll post more pics when I get back.
thanks,

I had my parts powdercoated thru my local dealership. I was able to see how well it has held up on bikes done 5-6 years ago before I pulled the trigger. So far, everything looks great. BTW, you can't buff out powdercoating and keep in mind that it's not as shinny as paint with a clear coat. For the exausts/heat shields, mine are from Vance&Hines and they don't seem to fade out. The only negative aspect of black exaust is the ceramic coating that is very fragile during the installation process.

Very nice!
