Can anyone give me an idea what would be the typical MDBF for the fuel pump in my 2008 FXSTSSE2 CVO Springer? I am currently crowding 45K miles.
I recently replaced the pump in my 1993 K2500 Suburban at about 124K miles but I am not sure the pump in the Springer is as robust.

In 11 years of owning my shop I have replaced ONE fuel pump. It was on a bike that sat for years. This is across all Injected HD models.

What hd-dude said^. The fuel pumps have not been a problem that requires owners to change them at X miles as a precaution, unlike many other parts. What you should do, however, is change the fuel filter and inspect/replace the fuel lines in the tank. If you've never done that, you are over due. The fuel lines are subject to hardening, having holes rubbed in them, and just deteriorating in general. This is an actual service called out in the maintenance schedule, I believe at around 30k miles.

I only remember ever replacing one fuel pump. On an old Marelli bike. Though even that one wasn't really the pumps fault. Had been starved a few times. Owner thought it was funny to run out of gas (go figure). Lines (internal and external), filters, etc. All the normal stuff. Whomever Harley bought pumps from though they seemed to nail that one.
Having said that wasn't their a recall or service bulletin a few years ago on pump problems in touring models? Right after the 2008 model year change happened?
