Bars
« on: October 31, 2013, 06:35:16 PM »

I see on the Wild1 web site that WO 575 bars don't fit 2014 models, which is a shame - they don't make anything else that's not too extreme for me.

Anyone changed the bars on a 2014 yet, to something that isn't an ape-hanger type bar?  My ideal bar would be like the WO575, but 2" narrower, same height, same wrist angle, and 1½" more pullback.  Oh, and chubby.  :)

But I don't think such a bar exists.  Or does it?

I've heard changing bars is a lot easier on the 14's due to different internal wiring, is this true?

I'd expect it to be, as the 2014s are canbus, so a lot less in terms of internal wiring.  I can't get my head round why 575s won't fit, but all of their other bars will, though.  In my garage is my 09 with 575s, and my friend's 14 limited, and I just don't see the problem.  (WO Inc assure me there is one though!

 Eqcons,

Here's one option that's about ready to go from Joe Vindikta.   www.vindikta.com

He builds his bars using 1.5" tubing (i.e. "chubby") and will build the bends/styles to suit, he'll also open up the left side grip a bit upon request so you can still use your heated grips. He was real quick on my bars from order to delivery and his pricing and overall quality including chrome is better then many of the better known bar MFG's I've used over the years.

 Good luck with your decision.

I called WO & asked the exact ?
Was told with the new fairing design, the bend in the 575 exiting through the fairing cap does'nt clear??  :confused5:
And there is no design change ahead from WO on the 575,,, The 578 would be the option from WO

Yes, I got the same story.  Said they couldn't bend them tightly enough - "The reason the 575 won't fit the 2014 is the channel the bar fits in on the fairing. We can't bend a bar that tightly at the base".  But looking at my bike (with WO575s) next to my friend's 2014, I can't see the problem.  And what makes it worse is - all the other chubbies fit, so how come they can bend them tightly enough, but not the 575s??

Personally, I think they could fit, but it's not an exercise that I'd look forward to trying!
