Week after Sturgis
« on: August 17, 2016, 10:28:56 PM »

It's not even a week after Sturgis Bike Rally 2016 and you can get a nice hotel room at the Hampton Inn in Deadwood for $113/night with your AARP card. Life is grand.

I was there the week before the Rally and it was the same way. The only people in town were the ones that wanted to ride and have some peace at night.

We were out this year first week of June.  So nice not to have all the people who ride 400 miles a year out there.  You could actually have fun on the roads!

A new trend I guess. Going to a rally the week before or the week after. The rider scene is changing. Not saying it's good or bad just different. Trailer the bike to a rally the week before or after and trailer back. Kinda like eating jalapeƱos that are not hot, ice cream without actual creme, decaf coffee, alcohol-free beer, suger-free cookies, I can't believe it's not butter... OK I guess it fits the overall current trend when it comes to everything. :nixweiss:

IDK TN! For the second year in a row there were more trailers to and from Sturgis than folks on bikes. Some can't ride that far due to health reasons, etc. so I'm all for making the trip anyway you can. But some of the trailer folks were (much) younger than me, covered in tattoos on impressive guns and facial hair that would put Grizzly Adams and Duck Dynasty to shame in 100k+ RV's. Add to that going to the rally before or after the actual event and I see nicotine-free tobacco in our future! I also do take the shuttle when drinking is involved cuz I don't wanna kill or die. But there is something to be said about folks like Kiro who rode from Maine to Sturgis and back and covered 5600 miles in 10 days!!

Regarding MV, it looks like I may not make it. Still trying but it ain't looking good right now. :(

It's not a crime so no accusations really. Just an observation regarding number of trailers on the road vs actual riders on bikes.
