I have no expertise in marketing, but it seems releasing new models mid-January, when 2/3rds of the country can’t ride doesn’t seem optimal. Why would anyone in a cold-weather state buy a new HD in January, knowing it’ll sit in their garage until April?
-
We have 5 seasons in Ontario - The 5th being "Customization" which typically falls nicely between winter and spring. :2vrolijk_21:

Winter is actually a good time to buy like stated above.... I have actually bought 3 new bikes in mid February Just for that reason, come April is was modded and ready to ride..

Agreed..Ordered my 2020 RG limited in October, it was delivered in Jan and modded and ready to ride for spring. Not to mention they are looking for sales when it is cold outside.....

Does anyone expect or care that H-D will actually show us something really special to get us to trade up. I don’t expect anything but will watch just in case.

Exactly
Sent from my boring Droid phone.

No, don't expect much.
Really past time for a new frame for the touring bikes. Need to go Mono-shock on rear with more travel.

Can’t fact check this, from a reliable source..... & not the pool boy this time :D
2021 will employ a New BOSH E.C.M.
17MM Oxygen Sensors
and require a new Adaptor for DT-II
I can't say if this in introductory change or will be mid year.

So that means all the aftermarket tuners need to be re-designed.....

Is this the same Bosch ECM that Indian is using on their Challenger? I know the aftermarket tuner manufacturers are having a hard time cracking that ECM...still trying after a year, without success.

If it is...that won't be good

If that's the case the mothership will have to have a street tuner for the Bosch ECM. Then aftermarket tuner will come around. If no tuner from H-D then upgrade will be no more.

17mm O2 sensors are Titania. They work off of variable resistance linked to O2 content of the exhaust. So that indicates a different ecm, not just a supplier change. I wonder if it's still speed density?
And since Bosch owns SPX (SE tuner manufacturer) they should have a pretty good running start on building the ecms.
