Title: Starter/jackshaft installation FXR4
Post by: FXR4seattle on July 16, 2012, 10:32:27 PM
So, I am having a starter issue with my FXR$. I have decided that this time I will replace the jackshaft and lso the ring gear for a 1084. I figure this would help agains any type of kick back. Anyway, does anyone know exactly how the jackshaft goes in place. I have a manual, but even with that it is confusing. It seems that people are saying the coupling should be turned eithed direction, airgap is an issue, and also how the proper engagement is? I just want to be sure this time, because last time as per directions/instructions there were allot of metal shavings in the case from pinion/ring gear misalignment. Pictures would be great if anyone should have them. I'll buy you a beer!!
