Saw an older thread where someone blew out all their speakers.

I had a blown left speaker replaced about 2 months ago. Now it appears my right speaker is blown.

Since blowing out the left front , I kept the volume 2 notches from max---that didn't prevent blowing out another speaker.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Covered by warranty for now---but what happens down the road if it occurs out of warranty--SOL?

Yep, SOL - you fork over the cash for speaker upgrades to prevent the issue again later...

Are there Harley speaker upgrades for the 2015 cvo ? I thought they were the best they currently offer.

Blew my front left speaker last night on my 15 CVO SG..... $hit!!! They've sounded great for 6 weeks....

This is what happened with the first year the BOOM audio system came out in 2011. The amp was putting out more than the system could handle. Kept blowing speakers, tweeters, head units and amps till Harley figured it out and they came out with a "Revised" amp. You could hear that it was not as loud as the original. I was going nuts the first 2 years going back and forth from the dealer. 6 Head units, a set of tweeters, ipod harness. 2 amps later it is finally working right. All under warranty but what a hassle. So if you go after market the warranty become void. Keep taking your scoot to the dealer. It is a hassle but they will have to fix it.

Don't let them off the hook. Keep taking it back till they get it right.

I know that the 2012's did not have the issues that the 2011's did. Another reason to rethink not buying the first year of when the introduce something new. The 2016's will have the bugs out.

Just  blew 3 of mine right fairing both bags. I knew the front right was sounding bad ,but until I faded to the rear speakers ,heard them crackle and pop also.This just happened after the new download.

So the shop "fixed" the front left speaker and said they tested them. I drive a couple of blocks away and they are the same BLOWN speaker sounds like still the front left. Now they said there's a subwoofer in the batwing that must be blown so I'm without my tunes for a few more days.....  $hit!!!

According to the parts manual there are four speakers in the fairing, two tweeters in the dash area and two full range speakers, one on each side.  There is no subwoofer shown.  Ask them to show it to you.

Both of my bag speakers are blown on my '15. They each have separate connections for woofer and midrange/tweeter. Does anyone know if they can be found aftermarket?

Problem most people have is the speakers demand more power than the amp can deliver and causes the amp to distort.  This distortion is what blows the speakers. Our ears are non linear. For a sound to be twice as loud takes 10 times the power. Example.  If your listening to music at 10 watts , instantaneous peak comes and the speakers try to draw 100 watts. The amp says no.   That's as simple as I can explain it. Audio is a passion of mine. I repair consumer electronics as a hobby.  I am a Master Certified E.T. in six different fields of electronics.  Retired. Your better off having much more amp power than what your speakers need. They will last much longer.

So, what you're saying is that it's not a problem with the amp being too powerful, it's that at higher volumes, the amp doesn't have the power to drive the speakers, so they start clipping, which is the fastest way to blow any speaker. Correct??

Yes you got it. Clipping is distortion that blows the speakers.
