Alpine IDA-X100M Installed
« on: June 10, 2010, 02:16:22 PM »

Finally took the next step after painting the inner fairing....replaced the stock audio system and changed the color of the gauge backlighting.  I decided on a Alpine receiver (IDA-X100M) marine grade radio, Hawg Wire Universal HUA-470 Adapter/ DX 540-70 speakers /PSC1502 150-watt amp, Sirrius/Alpine satellite tuner, a powered hidden AM/FM fairing antenna and Riders Claw I-pod mount.  I had Bluegauges.com change the tach/speedo lighting to blue and replaced the bulbs in the other gauges with blue LED’s (WLED-X5).  Pics to follow.

Looks nice.  Do the volume/other hand controls still work?

The Hawg Wire HUA-470 Adapter permits all the hand controls to function like your stock radio.  You give up a couple features with the aftermarket receiver...no intercomm and no "automatic volume control".  What you gain with the aftermarket receiver is a red/blue backlight option, aux port/usb port on the back of the radio vs the front, pre-amp ports, your i-pod is now charging when connected with the USB cord, all your music titles/artwork displayed in front of you, bluetooth phone capability, satellite radio capability at a fraction of the cost of the Harley option and all this under warranty (I purchased a 3yr warranty through squaretrade).  With this receiver and the Alpine/Sirrius satellite receiver you also get a feature called "game alert".  Pick your favorite sports teams and when the score changes your music is interupted with the update broadcasted.

Looks great. Did you hook up radio with or without amp?

Hawg Wire 150 watt amp....that coupled with the Hawg wire speakers you can crank this up until your ears bleed with absolutely no distortion.

Against that inner fairing that's got to be a great look.  Nice vision of what it should be and great execution.  Sweet bike :2vrolijk_21: .
