Zumo 660 on 2011 RG NAV/Phone volume interuption help.......
« on: August 31, 2010, 01:55:45 PM »

For some reason my GPS and Radio seem to have developed a problem. I hope it is just a setting snafu.

While listening to the radio or MP3 player thru the GPS (wire plugged into the front Aux port), the music mutes out and when I hit the volume up/down button I get the F-R volume settings and the description reads "Nav/Phne Volume" (like it does in the Comm/CB settings). I have the bluetooth turned off and no route entered in the GPS.  :nixweiss:

It actually seems to do it on the GPS/MP3's and when I scroll over to FM it remains the same.

I sure hope someone has had this challenge and it is related to operator error.

Sounds like your NIM module is acting up.

I know you said there is no route loaded in your gps but this is what would happen if the gps were sending a verbal message - it would mute the other outputs so you could hear it.  And if the gps volume were turned down low enough it might be possible that you heard nothing.

Thought of that. All three at 100%. I HOPE HOPE HOPE nothing is acting up. But then I guess that would be a first (for me anyway).

Sure hope you get it figured out.  Maybe a call to moco customer service (is that an oxymoron?) with the problem would shed some light on it.

Might just be a SNAFU with the NIM after all. Tonight when I was trying to play the Ipod, it would keep playing the same song over and over when I had it sort by Artist. Then it would do the same when I tried the Shuffle setting. Shuffle worked fine on the ride to work and back home though earlier. Then tonight on the way home from dinner, it worked on Genre setting. Who knows?

Hey Rob,
Congratulation on the new bike. I just picked up mine (2011 SERG) the other day. I noticed on mine that if I turn the radio volume down so that it only show a single bar I can hear the mp3/phone through the bike speakers. Have you noticed this as well. BTW the voice prompt interupt works great. Something else I noticed is that there is a 2.5mm connector located where the wiring bundle runs through into the front fairing. You can see it if you look down between the speedo and tach and the back of the front fairing. I asked the dealer about it but they didn't have a clue (go figure). I think it has something to do with the NIM that our bikes come with.
Thanks,
Joe

I'll try that but then how would you control the volume? Voice prompt hasn't worked yet on mine. This morning on the way into work I was listening to the Ipod and it just switched to AM on it's on. When I switched back to Ipod, played fine.

You can control the volume through the gps unit. I have had some odd behavior as well with the audio system. I'm not sure if you know this but the interupt volume is adjustable using the left side volume control for the audio system.
i.e. If you are listening to an FM channel and lets say you have the volume set at 5 bars when the gps interupts you can set the volume for the interupt using that left control. After the interupt is done the volume returns to the previous setting for the FM channel.

Mine seems to be set at the default of 1/2 way on front (F) and rear (R). Still no sound. I still hope the volume thing being controlled by the GPS is a setting snafu. Whats the point of having an NIM on the bike and it not being truly integrated (cannot control the volume with the volume switch on the handlebar)?

With the 660 powered on just tap the power button on top, it will show you where you volume and back light setting are set at on the GPS.

The 2.5mm plug is to connect an external microphone to the GPS so that you can talk via Bluetooth to your cell phone if you have it paired. If you have a helmet microphone adapter on your bike you can plug the adapter into the plug and use your helmet microphone to make and take phone calls while on your bike.

Not pushing my HD Bomm as you can use a cell set also.
