OK....I want more sound..what do I do?
« on: June 25, 2012, 01:04:32 PM »

I've read a bunch of threads here, but none have seemed tailored to my scoot...or me.

I have a 2011 SERGU CVO......so stock I have a decent stereo, an amp under my tour-pack, and 4 speakers.

I rarely ever listen to the radio with less then 3/4 volume....it's normally maxed out...which has blown 3 speakers already(currently waiting on 3rd to be delivered to HD..warranty work).

Here is my priorities:

1. Rain proof....I ride year round, 24/7, 365...I just got back from a 7 hour ride, it rained all 7 hours(probably why the speaker blew up again).

2. CLEAR and loud....distortion isn't loud...distortion is distortion....and distortion sucks.

3. Price...I don't want to have to take a second mortgage on the house just for sound.

Like I've said...I read a bunch of threads about upgrading, I know that TIF2 is knowledgeable, and I've done a bunch of research.... I like Rockford Fosgate....and I read many times that RF kills J&M Rokkers in price and quality...

......BUT...I ride in the rain...and I don't know how RF "non-marine" speakers will hold up to the abusing volume in in-climate weather that I will undoubtedly put them through.

If anyone wants to provide me with a list that would suit my needs, it would be greatly appreciated.

Do I need something other than my stock amp?
What amp....PN#
Which/ what amp to run what speakers?
What speakers?
How much roughly total?

You might try one of the vendors listed here with your questions.
I ended up with a mix of Biketronics, RF amp in my batwing fairing, lowers speakers and Sony radio (for my Bluetooth), they have a rain cover for it. I wanted this bike to be LOUD, because it's my "solo" bike.
My "2-up" bike has speaker upgrades and amp, but, stock radio and it works fine, just that the wife doesn't like it LOUD.

Your choice, but, there are bunches of options.

You should call Jim Schloffel at Metal Dragon, he is very helpful and has great pricing too.

I see those speakers are waterproof...and they fit in your SERGU CVO?

The 6501 are component speakers as I needed the separate tweeters.

Thanks for the call Chuck...it helped with a few questions.

....I just need more info from Shark nose RGU riders about sizes, part #'s, and what happens with the stock amp...

Thanks again man!.
