GPSMAP 478
« on: November 12, 2006, 01:09:43 AM »

I currently use the GPSMAP 276 C Plus for both my truck and boats (4 of them) & I love it. I am considering the 478 w/ XM weather for the boats & the new SEUC. Has anyone tried this product? I seen someone say that they used the 276, which is in the same housing, mounted on a Tech Mount. Thanks in advance, AJ

The 478 will be the replacement for my 276. very happy with the 276 It goes wherever I go, planes trains and automobiles, not to forget motorcycles and boats too.

But I just bought my wife a Garmin Nuvi 660 and a 37" Sharp Aquas for the bedroom. So the 478 is on hold. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I just bought the 478 on eBay: $910 + 12.95 sh tonight. 'OSED' (?) at it finest. I've already got the GMX 30 so all I have to do now is pony up the $30/ mo for XM/WX.

I have a dealer account for Garmin, could have gotten it shipped for about $50 less. $210 for the GMX 30 antenna.

OK. If it's primary duty was not for the watercraft, this unit would not go on the bike. I haven't found a mounting location for it yet. But from the looks of things, it will have to go on the handle bar w/ a tech-mount or fabricated on the dashpad. I wish the MoCo could incorporate the mapping into their unit. AJ

Scroll down on this page and you can see a 276 (same housing as the 478) mounted with the tech mount
