Title: SCREAMIN’ EAGLE ROAD KING RETURNS WITH A VENGEANCE
Post by: naitram on July 14, 2006, 01:29:51 PM
Milwaukee, Wis. (July 14, 2006) - The FLHRSE3 Screamin’ Eagle Road King, reprised for 2007 with more power, more gears and more drop-dead custom glamour than ever, returns to the Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) line after a four-year hiatus. This third-generation Screamin’ Eagle Road King combines classic Harley-Davidson styling with a new Twin Cam 110 engine, 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission and exclusive custom components and paint that make it an extraordinary touring motorcycle.
The Harley-Davidson CVO program creates limited-production, exclusive motorcycles produced by teams of technicians in special assembly areas at the Harley-Davidson plants in York, Pa., and Kansas City. Approximately 3,500 examples of the 2007 Screamin’ Eagle Road King will be assembled at the York Vehicle Operations facility. The suggested U.S. retail price for the 2007 Screamin’ Eagle Road King is $28,495 ($28,595 in California).

The Screamin’ Eagle Road King is based on the Harley-Davidson FLHR Road King. Custom accessories exclusive to the Screamin’ Eagle Road King begin with new leather-wrapped saddlebags with raised flame patterns on the lid tops and chrome trim on the front and sides of each bag. The same flame pattern is featured on a new custom leather seat, and also on an optional leather-wrapped Tour-Pak available for the Screamin’ Eagle Road King through Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories. The new chrome-and-rubber Ironside accessories collection includes hand grips, rider footboards, passenger pegs, Mustache engine guard pads, shift pegs and brake pedal pad. A new flush-mount fuel gauge features LED indicators under a mirrored glass surface that matches the profile of the flush-mount fuel filler cap. A new combination speedometer/tachometer features a spun-metal face. A new tail lamp in the classic “tombstone” shape is exclusive to the Screamin’ Eagle Road King.

The Screamin’ Eagle Road King is powered by the largest-displacement production engine ever offered by Harley-Davidson, the 110-cubic inch (1800cc) Twin Cam 110, a high-performance V-Twin engine that delivers 115 ft. lbs. of torque at 3000 rpm. Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) is standard on the Twin Cam 110, as is a custom oil cooler with chrome cover, and chrome cross-over dual exhaust with four-inch touring mufflers and chrome billet end caps. The engine is mated to a new 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission for lower cruising rpm in top gear. The powertrain is finished in black powder-coat with chrome covers.

New 18 x 3.5-inch front and 17 x 4.5-inch rear Chrome, Road Winder Forged Aluminum wheels carry 130mm front and 170mm rear tires. Air-adjustable Profile Low rear suspension lets the Screamin’ Eagle Road King hug the highway. The Dual Bulb Halogen Headlamp features advanced reflector optics and separate bulbs for high and low beam functions. Touring amenities include electronic cruise control, the Mustache Engine Guard with rubber boot pads, an accessory power outlet, and a quick-detachable smoked windscreen.

The Screamin’ Eagle Road King will be offered in three exclusive color combinations: Razor Red with Burnt Gold Leafing graphics; Candy Cobalt with Pale Gold Leafing graphics; and Black Ice with Pewter Leafing graphics. Frame and swingarm paint color is complementary with each paint scheme. The Harley-Davidson Smart Security System with Smart Siren, an indoor storage cover with CVO logo, and a commemorative CVO key in a presentation box are also included.

I like the shape of the bags but they really cheaped out not painting them to match.

And speaking of paint, that looks really familiar.  Anyone besides me see the CVO Wide Glide here?  Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but I would hope for originality at this price.

Still, I like it.

Get rid of the leather bags, and I wonder if they're going to offer painted hard tour-pak and bags as options? .... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I would guess not as they didn't offer the painted tour pak version on the 06 or 07 CUSE

This ain't Burger King - "Have it your way"
Guess it could be once you pony up the extra scratch $$$

Ditto Ernie.  Only saw the pics of them a few minutes ago and first (and strong) reaction was "man those bags don't belong there."  I actually like the looks of the Road Kings generally with the leather bags.  The Classic's bags are my favorite.  But those paint schemes on the new SE sure aren't complemented by the leather bags; at least to my tastes in those things.

Wanna bet they'll have paint to match hard bags available as a really expensive option very soon?  ;D

May not be Burger King,

But if you want it your way try

www.tmccycles.com

I'm with everyone else, get rid of the leather
(we "Harley" don't want to spend the money on paint) saddlebags.

Give me a red S/E 02 95" Road King w/Otis tuning and life would be good!

To each their own, but I like it.  I think it's my favorite of the 07 SE's.  I guess I don't mind the bags since I've got a RK Classic sitting in the garage.  I have a bitch of a time trying to keep my painted bags from getting scratched!  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I'm still thinking the RK Classic bags would look better than do these RK Custom bags here.  They're a little bigger too (always a good thing).  Still not sure of the overall look to my eye though.  If they wanted to do leather bags on this paint scheme on a "factory custom" than they should have done a truly custom bag too.  Dressed it with some sections of red leather on the red model and other appropriate colors for the others.  Could have made something actually quite stunning there.  Instead it's just a black tumor abruptly blocking the otherwise nice lines of a good looking bike.

Great idea Twolane!  You should have been a bike designer.  :)

I can't believe you said that, because last week I kept looking at the very '02 SE Road King you describe on ebay, and the seller was right down the road from me in West Palm Beach.  Stock, mint condition with 4264 miles.  Don't know what it sold for, if it did, but the bidding was at $18K and change with about an hour to go.

I kept thinking that I could get that, bribe Otis into a "how-to" session, and save a bunch of money over the new ones.  Depending, of course, on how much $$$ it took to bribe Otis. ;D

Red

If given a choice of CVO's for sale lined-up, the 02 RoadKing in red would be my personal favorite. Then that red 05 SEEG runs a close second.
Just something about those that rings my bell.

As far as that Otis tuning,,, whatever the cost is,, it would still be cheap compared to what he would get out of it. Find you one and talk to him, he can make it fly!

TBone I agree.  I had a 02 RK Classic that had to go when 06 arrived.  I really liked that bike and would have been tempted had one been available at time I bought CVO Ultra.

I don't know about that....REAL riders don't need tunes...they let the motor sing to them.
Besides...I've gotten pretty good at listening to the voices in my head.

Cheers,

Tunes aren't a necessity, but sure are nice to have. Once you've had them being w/o just seems out of place. Goes right up there with riding long distance with a windshield vs. w/o windshield. Yes it can be done, but it sure is a lot more comfortable with then without. ;D <- See no bugs in the teeth. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

I gotta say the paint on the RK CVOs is really cool this year 8-)

I'm a bit disapointed in the Ultra paint having seen it up close, it's less than what I would have expected from a $34K bike.

Isn't this the first year that HD has offered four SE bikes.  They're offering two different touring bikes.  They've got the leather tour pack on the CUSE and the leather bags on the SERK.  Since the CUSE has the hard bags, maybe the leather bags on the SERK just adds a little variety.  I've considered the RK Custom to be a nice package with the standard accessories.  I like the look of the new CVO RK, but I'm not just blown away by any of the '07 bikes.  I'm hoping to have a different opinion after seeing the lineup in Rapid City on Saturday night.
