We got the only hotel room left in Bairdstown. What a hotel!  If we weren't so darn hot we would have pushed on but it's 6:30 pm and we can't go any further. The guy at the desk doesn't speak English and Renay and I had to share a towel when we took a shower. I'm including a picture of the crooked "chandelier" and the curtains falling down. At least our mc's are parked right outside our door. I'm probably gonna sit at the window with my Kimber all night. Our goal is to get up at 5 AM and get ahead of the heat to try and complete the last 350 miles home.

Darn we've been caught swinging again  :'(.  Just wanted to let everyone know that we stayed behind the thunderstorm's all day between Lexington and Ohio.  We got the scooter's pretty dirty from the wet rodes but we never got a drop on ourselves.  Been home 2 hrs and it is pouring rain.  We put 1998 miles on the MC's and had a great time.   :P.  There are two things I learned on this vacation ~ first, I love this motorcycle  ;D. It is effortless to ride and it pulls like a mule through the mountains.  Second, I learned that I can RIDE again.   :2vrolijk_21:  This trip was a mental and physical test for me to see if I could accomplish these goals since my accident a year ago and short of the occasional pain pill (I'm still healing) I am able to hold my head high and be proud that I can ride again.   :). Thank you everyone for all your encouragement and JC, as I said, I dedicated this trip to you for never giving up on me when there were day's that I gave up on myself.

I can RIDE again.   :2vrolijk_21:

That's outstanding.  Glad you had a great time and gratified you got comfortable in the saddle again.  I've got nothing to be proud of for someone else's accomplishments but damn proud the trip was great :2vrolijk_21: .

I'm happy that this tripped turned out well for all and that you're able to ride again (more than just a short hop in town). :2vrolijk_21:

Gotta invest in one of those sun shirts (probably better than the cool vest with the high humidity back there)....  http://www.sunprecautions.com/product/12000

They're pricey but it's money well spent when you have to ride and it's up above 90F.....but especially when it rolls up to the triple digits.  They roll up so small that they take no room for storage, so that's never an issue.  Keep it in your bike all summer.....for emergencies.

It wasn't without it's difficulties JC but it was a HUGE accomplishment.  Very impressed with my new mc.  I have no doubt that this trip was successful in large part because of my sweet CVO.  This MC is just outstanding, and after the mod's I made to improve my riding position, I couldn't be happier.  :P.  Thank you for the tip about the shirt and I am seriously considering purchasing one for future "hot" day rides.
