Bug slide?    That's new technology for me to discover.   I always soak a hotel's towel in hot water and lay that over the chunked up little flat baked on bugs.  Hotel may not be happy; but it works too  :2vrolijk_21: .

Eureka Springs, Arkansas up to Branson, Missouri.  Just doing the Ozarks for 7 days.

Have spent a lot of time in Eureka.  Fun little town and very bike friendly.  It doesn't suck quite as bad as it used to going through Branson.  But it can still be about as much fun as a doctor who wears rubber gloves for good reasons.

If heading to Branson from Eureka consider this.  It'll be farther than just taking 23 north to 86 and riding across to Branson; but it'll give a really fun riding stretch.  And it's still a short ride.

Either go north on 23 to 86 (MO) then east to 39 then go north to 76.  76 from its junction with 39 on east to Branson West has some fun riding stretches (better than the other E/W options across southern Missouri there).  You could also go east out of Eureka on 62 to Berryville (there's a Wal Mart in Berryville if it'll be time to do any shopping) and from there take AR 221 north.  221 in Arkansas becomes 39 in Missouri to go on up to 76.  That stretch across 76 can make the trip to Branson worthwhile.

It is 100 degree's here today. The heat index is 105. The scooter's are running great. I'm dedicating this trip to my good friend JC. And for you Stu, I don't regret keeping my lower's on cause I love it when I'm playing my tunes and the bass kick's in and my feet vibrate on my highway pegs!  SWEET!!  Will post pictures tonight when we get to our hotel in Branson. We are 45 miles from there.

Beat the heat!

Blanchard Springs Cavern is located in the very picturesque Ozark National Forests near Mountain View Arkansas. It's on Highway 14 and signs will point you in the right direction.

One of the most beautiful caves in North America.

Mountain View

You can also visit Mountain View where you'll often find folk singers in the streets. The Ozark Mountain Folk Center is just about 15 minutes away from the caverns. There are tons of nice restaurants and shops on Main Street in Mountain View. It's a great place to stop for dinner, lunch or a short shopping trip.

Take Branson US-65 South through Harrison, AR to the Buffalo River (National River), AR-66 East to Mountain View. Then head AR-5 North to Mountain Home, AR.

Beautiful water you want to spend days in.  Beautiful area.  Very friendly people.

Stopped 40 miles from Branson. We went in this little restaurant for ice cream since their sign advertised it but the little 85 year old working in there said no, we don't have ice cream. Lol. I bought a can of pop and ask her if she could make me a "Sex on the beach" and she laughed and said that they don't sell alcohol but that she thought the had a bottle in the back to mix with my Dr Pepper!  I laughed. She pulled a chair up and all four of us had a great conversation. She said that she never seen such big
mc's and women riding them was her first. She said she work's for nothing cause the owner let's her eat all she wants, I left her a $5.00 tip. Her name is Elaina and this is her picture.

This is the little pizza place where she works

Stopped for gas after crossing into Missouri

More picture's in Missouri. 100 degree's today!

At our hotel in Branson. We had a 12 hr day. Scooter all put away for the night. And yes, bug's have been wiped off!

I have to say that the MOCO did it right when they built this scooter.  It runs like a Kentucky Derby winner.  :2vrolijk_21:  I love the horsepower and how easily it drives itself.  I am really impressed with this scooter...thanks Willy G. For not f**king up this mc.   :P

We will be rolling into Eureka Springs Thursday evening, getting up Friday and riding down hwy 7 and up hwy 23 and over to Pig Trail HD.  I think Saturday will be spent hanging around town eating and drinking...and maybe shopping.   :cucumber:

I'll let you know after this weekend.  We're leaving Friday for a Pashnit Forum GTG and we're leaving in 90F + temps.  We have other shirts with 100% SPF and they work to keep the sun off of your skin, light weight but these are supposed to actually cool you down.  We'll see. :nixweiss:

Hey Judy, what days are you going to be in Eureka?  They wife and I are headed down there later this week.

We went to Eureka today because the heat for the week is only going to get hotter, so we are starting home a day early and taking that extra day going East praying for cooler weather.

Funny story about this wooden bridge. It 185' long but only 8' wide. One vehicle at a time can cross it and it is all wooden planks that no two are level. We started across and apparently so did this other driver from the other side. Well when we met in the middle he proceeds to get out of his car and tell us to back our scooter's off the bridge. We explained that you don't push 800 lb mc's backwards off a bridge. He swears at us and climbs back in his car, turns it off and he's going to wait us out. Renay asked him if he could scoot is little trashy car over 2' and we will try to squeeze by him.....oh no, the a$$hole tells us to turn out scooter's around. I decided that I was going to settle this little problem, so I reach for my 45 Kimber that I wear on my hip and chit....I realized that I left it back at the hotel. I was more upset with myself than the a$$ hole. After threatening to call the sheriff and let him settle the standoff, the ahole scoots over 1'. We squeeze by barely with 2" between our fairing and his outside mirror. I was going to take my foot and kick his door in when I went by his car but there wasn't enough room for me to get my leg up off my floorboard. Talk about an arrogant SOB.

Christ of the Ozarks.  This statue is 7 stories high and we were told it is lit up at night and you can see it from far away. Very humbling.

We went by the sign pointing in that direction but didn't turn since we were pushing hard to get East and hopefully drive out of this HEAT.  But, the forecast looks like we are going to drive home and arrive home in the same heat.   :'(

It is noon and we just crossed into Kentucky. The temp is 101 and they are calling for 106. YIKES is it hot!  We have 160 more miles before stopping for the night. The tar snakes are brutal. I almost dropped my scooter at the gas station. I just filled up and was pushing it back away from the pump when my left foot slipped out from under me. I don't know how I held her up but when I looked down I had slipped on a chicken wing!  Now I've heard of a banana, but who throws fried chicken wings out the window????  Gonna be a long, hot afternoon!

Unfortunately, I'm not a big water drinker but we have been stopping every hour and I have guzzled all the sweet tea I can hold. We are 105 miles away from Bairdstown and our hotel. We are making great time running 75 mph on 62 East. We are at Central City Kentucky fueling. We will keep drinking Terry, thank you for your concern.

I'm addicted to Sweet Tea too, Judy.  That confirms that you grew up in Alabama   :huepfenlol2:  Throw a bottle of Gatorade in there a couple of times a day...I can tolerate the Orange flavor pretty well if it's really cold. Or at least eat a Bannna to get the potasium back that you're losing.  It's so hot here that I'm putting ice cubes in my dog's water bowl, and bringing them inside for part of the day, even though they have a nice screened in porch with a ceiling fan...it ain't fit for Man nor Beast out there right now.  Ya'll take care and get to that air conditioned motel ASAP.

We got the only hotel room left in Bairdstown. What a hotel!  If we weren't so darn hot we would have pushed on but it's 6:30 pm and we can't go any further. The guy at the desk doesn't speak English and Renay and I had to share a towel when we took a shower. I'm including a picture of the crooked "chandelier" and the curtains falling down. At least our mc's are parked right outside our door. I'm probably gonna sit at the window with my Kimber all night. Our goal is to get up at 5 AM and get ahead of the heat to try and complete the last 350 miles home.

Darn we've been caught swinging again  :'(.  Just wanted to let everyone know that we stayed behind the thunderstorm's all day between Lexington and Ohio.  We got the scooter's pretty dirty from the wet rodes but we never got a drop on ourselves.  Been home 2 hrs and it is pouring rain.  We put 1998 miles on the MC's and had a great time.   :P.  There are two things I learned on this vacation ~ first, I love this motorcycle  ;D. It is effortless to ride and it pulls like a mule through the mountains.  Second, I learned that I can RIDE again.   :2vrolijk_21:  This trip was a mental and physical test for me to see if I could accomplish these goals since my accident a year ago and short of the occasional pain pill (I'm still healing) I am able to hold my head high and be proud that I can ride again.   :). Thank you everyone for all your encouragement and JC, as I said, I dedicated this trip to you for never giving up on me when there were day's that I gave up on myself.

I'm happy that this tripped turned out well for all and that you're able to ride again (more than just a short hop in town). :2vrolijk_21:

Gotta invest in one of those sun shirts (probably better than the cool vest with the high humidity back there)....  http://www.sunprecautions.com/product/12000

They're pricey but it's money well spent when you have to ride and it's up above 90F.....but especially when it rolls up to the triple digits.  They roll up so small that they take no room for storage, so that's never an issue.  Keep it in your bike all summer.....for emergencies.

It wasn't without it's difficulties JC but it was a HUGE accomplishment.  Very impressed with my new mc.  I have no doubt that this trip was successful in large part because of my sweet CVO.  This MC is just outstanding, and after the mod's I made to improve my riding position, I couldn't be happier.  :P.  Thank you for the tip about the shirt and I am seriously considering purchasing one for future "hot" day rides.
