Title: What 2 into 1's offer a dummy pipe?
Post by: kojack on August 04, 2015, 10:17:47 AM
I am removing my pro pipe to install a 2 into 1 that has a dummy pipe on the other side.  What brands have dummy pipes available?

D&D it is.   I do not like thunderheader pipes.

Drago does, D&D as well. Had both, like the Drago much better.
To me, the Boss Fat Cat was just too freaking loud.

The Drago Dragula is not exactly quiet but I found it more bearable at cruise.
YMMV

I will look into them.   I am not a fan of thunderheader at all so they are out,  I am open to all others.

As said before Thunderheader, Bassani, D&D, EPI (Rush) and Drago's.

I have 4 of the Dragos 3 of the 2 into 1 2.55 and one of the Fang which is the 3" collector and 1 D&D.   3 of the bikes have falsies which are Drago's.   I was able to get a bit more out of the Drago stepped 2 into 1 than I did the D&D.

Drago is direct from his shop or one of the supporting vendors that sell it.

For the D&D you can go direct, Zippers, Eastern Performance usually has the best price on the web.   But you will pay a lot more for the D&D over the Drago.

BTW:

the Drago is about 30% less money than the D&D

The D&D is nice to look at but dang it's loud!

Rush Wrath. It is a really nice performance pipe, excellent chrome, ceramic coating applied internally and externally.

Its ugly and I don't like the sound of it.  And from what I have been reading most 2-1 systems now, even my pro pipe out perform it.

+1 on Supertrapp. Makes great power, easy on the ears.

The V&H Power Dual head pipe or the Fullsac DX are 2into1 into 2, along with Kury Crusher mellows also make great power and are not overly loud.

The Thunderheader gets louder with time and miles, same with Pro Pipe. I have D&D Boarzilla with QUIET HAHA baffle and its still pretty snarky as one member described it riding behind us.
I have had a Thunderheader on my 96 WG for most of it's life. It stayed as it was a birthday present from Mrs. R. :2vrolijk_21:

I have noticed on most of the videos,  and personal experience 2-1's are very raspy sounding.   I wish there was something available to calm that down and get the "thud" sound to it.   That is the major problem with my 2-1.   That and the fact it has no dummy pipe....but being crafty If I can find another,  I may be able to fab something up.

Kojack as an idea not knowing what you have for mufflers provided its not a stepped pipe, if you can find an original take off pipe from the primary side years that would work would be 2002-2006 you can cut the top side where it would go into the joint off and weld it shut to keep water out and then mount it to the starter bracket and 2 bolts under the rear bag and put on whatever muffler you are looking to match it to.

I have an old model Vance & hines pro pipe.   I am thinking I can mount one on the other side,  and make up a dummy pipe and heat shield for it.

I figure I should be able to do it using stock Harley parts.  Get a heatshield from a tuck and under system.   mount the pipe like any other and just cover the mount with the heat shield.   Now,  to hunt down a pipe.

My understanding is you can take an oil pan from the new bikes and put it on yours and then be able to use the cross under pipe from the new bikes if that is something you want to do.

I don't think I would need it because I am not going all the way, Or,  maybe I should do it that way.....Good idea.  Now you have me thinking.

ebay here I come,  time to see if I can pull off another pro pipe muffler.
