Motorcycle Dolly
« on: June 08, 2008, 09:11:41 PM »

I bought this dolly at Harbor Freight (on sale for $70).  It is great for moving my second bike around the garage out of the harms way (my 3 year old son).  It moves very easily and smoothly on concrete floor and can support up to 1250 lbs.

It's almost perfect size for Harley.  Almost because the side plate is a bit too short for kick stand.  But still works.

Does it have locks on the wheels to stop it from moving while putting bike on it , do ride up on it or push the bike on , and lastly how stable does it feel with the bike on it? Sorry for all the questions but it looks like something I could use also. ???

It has 2 ramps for loading and unloading that acts as lock also in down position.  When you drop the ramp, it lifts up the caster slightly so dolly won't move away from bike (I'll try to get some better pictures maybe tomorrow).  It is low enough to push the bike up, but for me it was easier to just drive up (I'm vertically challenged  ???).  It is very stable with my old RK (1" higher than SERK there for lean more).  It moves very easily even one handed.  I grabbed the guards and moved it around.
The load ramps have about 10" handles that make it easy to fold up with the weight of the bike on dolly.  Also it has two rods that acts as stops for bike, leave the one in front in position when the ramps are down so you don't overrun the dolly.

It only looks like it'll work with a conventional center mounted jiffy stand like on an FL. My WG has forward controls with jiffy stand mounted up front. And my Pro Street has the jiffy stand mounted rearward on the swingarm pivot mounts. Too bad they don't make it with a moveable jiffy stand support for different jiffy stand locations (or can it be moved-not clear in the pic)? :confused5:

It moves...you can slide it up or back (was looking at these a week or so back in HF)...

There are more expensive ones, I had concerns that the HF one would handle 800lbs.

Thanks Sean. It was hard to tell if it moved from the pic, but of course I didn't look hard enough. It says 3 position kickstand adjustment!. :2vrolijk_21:

WooHoo, now I get to spend more $$$ on these friggin bikes! ::)

I'm not a big fan either but this is made by Haul-Master and works for what it's made for.
If you want better quality, I can changed the bolts, drill some more holes, change the casters to rubber and sell it toyou for $250 with life time warranty (Warranty: if it breaks, I'll buy you a beer :nixweiss:).
The side platform moves and it is rated for 1250 lbs.  Just make sure not to tork the bolts too tight they strip easily.  The casters are small diameter and good for flat smooth surface only.

Howie,
Here is another motorcycle dolly.  I don't know if it's any better for $300.
