West VA Bound
« on: August 31, 2005, 09:40:55 PM »

Here's one for the folks from West VA or those that know the area well...aka - HUBBARD, OTIS, and SHRADER...

A co-worker and friend has planned a journey for us into West VA, at which point I have not knowledge of the plan.  Since the distination is not important, the ride is, I am not concerned regarding the plan at this point.

However, I will be foolish not to take the advise of this excellent resource.  With that in mind,, I'm seeking the widsom of the masses.  We will have only two days to enjoy the area and will be coming from Knoxville, TN to West VA.

Any advice regarding locations, roads, etc....

Knowledge is power and you have it....Can I request a sharing of it?

Thanks.

As I understand it, we will leave Knoxville on Sept. 15th...will be in W.VA. on Sept 16th...One of the guys in the group knows the area somewhat, however I wanted to make sure we did not miss an opportunity for even more....

Of course, Hubbard, Otis and Schrader would be the resident experts, but if you get near to Gauley Bridge, I think it's Highway 60 that offers some nice riding.  Also, from 60, State Route 16 to Fayetteville, as I recall is also nice.  Maybe they can confirm this or tell me my memory is completely shot, one or the other.

I used to travel I-77 from NC through VA, and WVA and the scenery was great from Mt Airy to Beckley, even for an Interstate, so I have to believe that a lot of those state roads in that area would be really beautiful.

Take some pictures for us.

Don't buy into that B/S! [smiley=furious.gif]

Just because Tater has to ask permission to get into Florida doesn't mean it works the other way!

Well, Well, Well...

I only thought I was West VA bound...not only was my trip shortened earlier this week, now I understand it has been cancelled...(h1t!!

However, with that being stated, I still feel blessed based upon the events happenin' in our country and what is about to happen within my company.  Sometimes, it is hard to accept just how blessed we are given the circumstances of others.
