Have never tried it, but the frames are completly different and the backbone of the frame runs the length of the tank.

Just guessing, I'd say no due to the frames not being the same.

Anything will fit with the appropriate amount of monetary displacement.

Your best bet would be to use a '08 FLH 6 gal tank as that's the last year before the new frame revision.

Even then it may not fit.

According to H-D, even the '08 will not retrofit.  Of course, with judicious applications of cutting torches and welding equipment, most anything can be made to fit.

If I'm good about staying hydrated while in the wind I have to pee more often than six gallons would last.  So it's not a worry :huepfenlol2: .

X2...running out of gas is the least of my worries.  Finding gas stations to stop and pee at is more of a concern.

Best to buy an aftermarket 6 gallon tank that's made to fit. there are a few companies out there making  them.

I don't think I've ridden 5 gallons without stopping. Got close several times but was more than happy to climb off the bike and take a short walk.

5 gallons is enough if you get 40+ mpg.  Even out west, never came too close to running dry.  But, don't know how the chopper guys do it these days with the gas stations fewer & farther between.... :-\ (guess they're 'trailering' these days.  ::)   spyder

And it can depend on the gas those stations have. We had a very mild winter in Maine and I rode every month.
Normally I get from 39 mpg to 42 mpg, depending on how much I twist the throttle.
This winter between Maine & NH I had a low of 33.5 mpg to 38 mpg. I suspect it has to do with the winter additives in the gasoline.
I am once again bact to 40+ for the past 50 gallons.

Yep. Between pee breaks, smoke breaks, sightseeing breaks, eating breaks, general BS breaks, etc... I've never put more than 4.8 gallons in my tank at one time anyway!
