TORQUING HEAD GASKETS

(1/2) > >>

pewterbike1:
Hey. I read and seen mechanics torquing then loosening head bolts then re-torquing again on a twin cam but most only torque once.why the 2 different ways and which should one use. thanks.

HD Street Performance:
Why bother? Twin cams seal and last when torqued per the manufacturers recommendations.

I really like the O-Ring cylinder base gasket  on the earlier TC motor I assume the 110 have the same?
Old EVO motors has issues especially on front left of cylinder base paper gaskets

stuart1270:
I recently did the 117ci upgrade torqued according to the instructions which  said to use manual specs. Ended up with cylinder base seepage. Kit came with cometic head gasket had to retorque bolts according to cometic specs. I believe  Harley instructions are for stock gaskets.

That’s a correct statement Stuart, I found that out myself too....
