Get your "Motor Running Head", out on the highway!

What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men

If he survive, which I really hope he did, he need some serious rider training. He target fixated and hit the truck dead on. This could so easily have been avoided

yup... you could see that in the video... He saw the truck and turned right at it.

Fortunately they say he survived and will be OK (eventually)

Wow - that's crazy... Looked like he was traveling under 60 mph and had plenty of room to clear the truck. Definitely a preventable accident - wouldn't think anyone could survive that encounter.  :nixweiss:

Good thing he ran into a fire truck that had people with emergency training who could take immediate action.

The first thing he did was lose control when he hit a bump or slipped on something, he bobbled and crossed the center line long before he hit the truck.

...in addition, he was going too fast.  There's a reason for those square signs with numbers.

LOL, they removed my post!!! I guess I wasn't politically correct.......That's too funny.

The first thing he did was lose control when he hit a bump or slipped on something, he bobbled and crossed the center line long before he hit the truck.

If you slow it down you can see the road has a bunch of cracks and grooves in it.  He lost good road contact and never really recovered control.

He might of hit a tar snake on a hot day.

Here in SoCal, and other parts of the country, cracked roadways are "fixed" by filling them in with road tar. When the summer heat comes and the road heats up, the tar softens. The change in road surface is noticeable, especially in a curve with the bike leaned over and under power. The rider literally goes from full traction, to a loss of traction, and back to traction in less than a blink of the eye. If the bike is in a curve, it will "hop" sideways to the outside. Most recently in Colorado a tar snake in a curve caused me to hop onto the yellow dividing line.

I don't like to second guess any rider, but I agree with the earlier post. To me it looks like he hit a tar snake, hopped wide, came off the throttle which caused him to up right and go wider, fixated on the fire truck and hit it.

We have tons of tar snakes around MI as well. (In general our roads are crap). Gets slippery in hot sun and rain.

That's the price we pay for building roads with contracts from the lowest bidder.

I think he needed to quickly push hard on the Right hand grip.

This would give a quicker response to get the bike to veer to the right versus leaning.

Something riders need to think about and practice for incidences like this.

After replaying the video I do see where something made the bike lurch about a second or two before the collision.

Looked like his speedo was at 55 mph.  Too fast?  Maybe for his experience.

We all seem to go a little quicker than what's posted and correct that speed after we encounter certain road conditions.  Maybe whatever made his bike lurch was his first encounter on that road.

This video was good because it makes you pucker up and aim your eyes right at the headlight of the fire truck.

Rough one .. seems it could have been avoided but a combination of the surprise and the speed was too much to overcome.
