This is from the dealership's home page ( http://www.hdelkgrove.com/default.asp ) :

Keith Wandell, President and Chief Executive Officer Harley-Davidson Inc., has asked all major metropolitan Harley-Davidson Dealers with two or more locations to consolidate into one. The sagging economy of the last three years has increased the inventory levels of all brands of motorcycles across the United States. Harley-Davidson Motor Company, which has the highest market share, is reacting first by significantly reducing the shipments of motorcycles to its dealer network. This plan to balance the supply and demand of today’s economy will be successful by having the number of dealerships reduced or consolidated, which in turn will, even with the reduction of shipments of new motorcycles, allow the remaining locations sufficient amount of new inventory to meet the needs of the current market trends. In the greater Sacramento Regional Market, Harley-Davidson Motor Company has identified several Harley Davidson locations which they wish to consolidate; two of those locations being Harley-Davidson of Sacramento and Harley-Davidson of Elk Grove. Because of our full cooperation with Harley Davidson Inc., The Westbrook Family has been granted the exclusive right to reopen the Elk Grove Dealership when the market returns. Our two dealerships are working under the guidelines of The Motor Company to consolidate into one major dealership in Sacramento. It has been our privilege to have the opportunity to serve the Elk Grove community as business owners, of which we reside and have raised our children. We will retain and serve the Elk Grove market at our original location of Harley-Davidson of Sacramento, the legendary Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Dealership since 1919.

I too saw the above in Sacramento HD and Elk Grove HD's online news letter. It sounds like other multi-location dealerships might face the same fate. Too bad - more people losing their jobs. Hopefully, they will move the employees to their Sacramento location. It certainly will create a bigger load for the service department and longer waits to get our bikes in.... :(

I got an email from the dealership a couple of days ago.  It was on the news last night.  Man, Jay just bought the land and built that dealership about five years ago.  A sign of the times. :nixweiss:

Service has gone down hill at Sac HD....considerably, over the past two or three years.
