Title: New Years Day ride
Post by: Yellow09SERG on January 01, 2019, 06:40:37 PM
How many of you all were able to get a ride in today? Its something we have been doing for several years now. A few years we have got a good ride, some years, like this one it's about 5 miles and done..lol. We were able to try out the new helmets and the Sena 30k. Santa had to leave them here by mistake because I know we couldn't have been on the nice list. But hey we were lucky enough to get the year started off with a ride. Who else was so lucky?

Our HOG group puts on an annual Polar Bear run on New Years Day. We got 20 miles in today, 50 bikes at 40 degrees.

We got ours in today but it was a great ride.  Since moving to Jacksonville FL winter riding is much easier.  Rode for about two hours along the beach with clear skies and about 80 degree weather.  We so enjoyed it! Much better than the old "Blue balls" run! HA!

We made it to 30 this afternoon. 10 degrees warmer in Ohio than here in Oklahoma.....something just isn't right..  ;D.

I guess as Ron said today was our blue ball run.

150 miles here in Pa today.  Heated gear helped a lot!

Always try on New Years also.  Misty intermittent rain and temps about 30.  Screw it.  Half hour on the Road Glide then a half hour on the Road King.  Enjoyed every minute of it.  Would have tried to squeeze in a quickie on the FXR too but it's up on the lift.  It's turn will come later.

It was 38 degrees when I pulled out at 6:15am. Thank God for heated jacket liner and heated gloves. The ride home was nicer, Just needed the leather jacket.

150 Miles today, 82 degrees when we left, 71 upon return. Ride was very nice, Casino stop, not so nice to pocket. First ride over a hundred miles in over a year. Health finally back and I have to suggest to everyone, keep a regular, no more than a year max, check on your PSA. The treatment sucks but the alternative is worse.

On the road at 7am for a morning ride while the temperature was only 18 deg C (64 deg f) expected top temp for the day in is 41 deg C (105 deg f).

Big turn around from when I was in Minieapolis 2 1/2 weeks ago. Snow, ice and cold outdoors.

Going from Minneapolis to Oz in December or January would be outstanding.  Once made a similar trip in late January from Port Moresby to 18 degrees in Missouri.  That was major suckage  :coolblue: .

Got out for a nice loop with the heated gear and modular helmet with Sena headset for listening to the tunes. I was roasty toasty in our dry mid 40 degree day. Even had some nice sun breaks in the afternoon.
Happy 2019 everyone!
Onward and upward.  :bananarock:

Pool water too cold (60 degrees) for the annual neighbor friends "Polar Plunge", so myself and 2 of my neighbors enjoyed a great 160 mile ride thru the back roads of Central Florida. 80 degree day, can't beat it.  ;)
HAPPY NEW YEAR.

80 degrees and a ride sounds great. We should be able to get one of those about May

got about 150 miles in along the river road in natchitoches (for you northerners, that's pronounced nak-a-tish) through plantations.  some sun, some overcast, but between 50 and 60*.  great way to start the year.   :orange:
