There's an e-mail circulating from a former Vietnam POW that details the treason committed by Jane Fonda in Hanoi at the infamous Hanoi Hilton durin the Vietnam War. Hanoi Jane is up for an award naming her one of the top 100 Women of the Decade. The e-mail asks everyone to do whatever they can to block Fonda from receiving the award. If anyone on the site got the e-mail please post it here for everyone to read. My apologies if it's painful to any of you Nam vets to read, but I believe this information needs to be out there for folks too young to remember or maybe some that didn't know what she did. I don't believe there's a statue of limitation on Treason, maybe she can still be brought up on charges.

Too many people have written off the VietNam era as "just one of those times". It is far from that and we all need to be held accountable for our actions. Hanoi Jane is no different to me than the Nazis to me. Catch them when you can and make them answer for their actions, even if many years ago.

Spider, I can't stand the woman. Never paid to see one of her films and don't intend to. But I never went along with the more reasoned or the more rabid calls to indict her for treason.
On the Federal log I don't believe you'll find a statute of limitations for treason, sedition or espionage actually. The latter of them being the far more common charge for the various treasonous acts people have been caught doing over the years. There's only been like 40 or Federal indictments for treason in the history of the Republic. And too many of those have had a scent of politics as part of the activity.
That's separate and apart from why Fonda should not have been so indicted though. Nor is it that the language of Article 3 Section 3 defining treason ("levying War against [the United States], or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort") is a bit of a "maybe" in this case. There was certainly an argument to be made if one were so inclined. It gets more problematic when you consider the Court in Ex Parte Bollman ("there must be an actual assembling of men, for the treasonable purpose, to constitute a levying of war") but one could at least push the charge if he had a mind to do so.
My opinion on Fonda and treason is based solely on the belief that she's not worth it. To charge her so elevates her (or would have done so) and woudl have made her a martyr on a much larger stage. Treason is a big deal. It is and should be. That's why it is the only crime defined in the Constitution. Our fears of its overuse as a charge in England for purely political purposes is both warning and guidance. Fonda never earned being elevated to that stage.
So (you're thinking), she should have gotten off free? Nope, that's where some (or several) Federal prosecutors chickened out. She was almost certainly guilty of violating the Logan Act. Her own actions and press would have made the case. Sometime someone somewhere should have so indicted her, given her the very public trial she would have made sure she got, and thrown her ass in a Federal pen for three years. Inhospitable accomodations. When that was over she'd have had a completely new understanding of "aid and comfort."

She's not worth the effort, besides look at who gives out those awards anyway, Let her have it! Most awards are a bunch of #@!&%$!!!!! We know who she really is and so do most Americans!!
