Title: 2019 Street Glide CVO engine problem
Post by: Fier23 on June 24, 2019, 01:51:29 PM
Hello all, new here and have a question/problem. I am on my 3rd street glide and 2nd CVO with the other being a 2018. Last week I wanted it a little louder so I debaffled the exhaust and took out the cat to relieve heat. Yesterday my brother and I were riding and messing around when it all the sudden felt like it had no power. It sounded exactly the same but quite a bit slower as I noticed it immediately. Any ideas or is it just in my head.

1.   If you take out the cat then you need to recalibrate with a tuner otherwise you will be lean.   If you use a tuner your warranty will be voided by the EPA's mandate to Harley.
2.   Very little facts in your post but sounds like a symptom of sumping.

Would deleting the cat without tuning cause sumping?

I was about 10 min from home. I parked it and have not started it since. Also can I drain the sump to fix it so I can get it to the dealer? Stupid question but do I need to take it to the dealer?

pull your crank sensor out and measure how much comes out. anything more than 6 ounces call the dealer

Do I need to warm it up first or just drain it cold?

Here is my dip stick. Since it only has 700mi on it I called my salesman and they are picking the bike up tomorrow. I didn’t check the sensor plug since they are picking it up.

After reading this.,makes me not want to touch a thing on the mako.   I'm still on the original everything but the suspension. I hope you can get this solved.    Stuart.

I think after this I’ll stick the catted headers back on it and be happy with debaffled stock mufflers and wait to tune it until the warranty runs out.

Since you altered the exhaust and didn't use Harley parts, I hope, for your sake, that your warranty hasn't already run out. Good luck

I didn’t alter it using anything else. I just debaffled my oem exhaust.

In the MoCo eyes debaffling the mufflers is altering the exhaust system. They will try/use anything done to the bike (other than "approved" OEM stuff) to deny warranty. Good luck.

I returned it back to standard mufflers before dropping it off. Better safe than sorry. Thanks for the heads up!
