Sounds like you are having LOTS of fun.  I am going to keep the 2 into 1 into 2 stock system for now and just put on slip ons and a super SERT.  I did ask the dealer this morning on the weight issue and he says it does not impact any load capacity.  He estimated the installed on the detach between 4 and 5 hours.  That would mean 45 hours for me to do it. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: Did the dealer do your hog tunes install as well?  I am told there is a quick connect for the cb system as well when you put the tour pak back on.  I know someone (Chief) who did it on his 07.
thanks
The dealer did the Hawg-wired amp setup for me also. I was charged 4 hours labor to complete the detach system including the amp rewiring. Also by having them do it at the time of purchase, all the work is covered under warranty, so if I lose power to something in the tour-pak and I have good connections it is their issue. They did install a quick-disconnect in my tour-pak for the CB.

So the Q/D for the cb is a separate item from the T/P Q/D?

Wow that looks great.   Reminds me of my SEEG.  If you go touring how long will it take to reinstall? the pak??
My guess is 15 minutes. There are 3 plugs in the tour-pak, the 2 rear speaker plugs, the heated seat plug under the seat, CB connection, the intercom connection to snap back in place and reinstall the stock seat. A buddy of mine has a standard Ultra and he does his in 10 minutes. The biggest deal wth it will be taking your time to make sure the pak is lined up correctly to slide on the detach points. I open the saddlebags just to be safe the tops don't get scatched.

I never asked the question if it was a separate item, they just took care of it without an additional charge. They had told me I would lose CB with the detach kit, but when I picked it up, the tech said he installed the disconnect so I would have it if I wanted it.

I used the 4" smoked windshield I had on my '05 SEEG. The stock height was right in my line of sight. I'm considering getting the quick-detach hardware for the lowers so when I strip it down, I take it all the way, but still undecided on that one. Thanks for the comments.

Here is my newbie question:
So what do you do with the amplifier?  Obviously there is no place to put it so it has to be removed.  Is there some special wiring harness in the kit that lets you loop back the feed to the front speakers so the radio will still work?

You go with an aftermarket amp mounted on top of the radio under the fairing. After I did some research and asked some questions on this site, there is no doubt that products from Hawg-Wired are the way to go. They cost a few bucks but their quality and construction make them worth it. They have different systems so you can amplify all four speakers or just the front 2 or add speakers in your glove boxes. If you go with their amps you also have to change out your speakers to a 4 ohm unit. Do a search on the topic and you will find several posts regarding amplifier relocation. Good Luck.

Weamdog, you have the option of no amp at all.....just take off the stock one.  It depends on how much into to music at 80 mph you are I guess.  No doubt the quality/loudness, etc will be affected somewhat but I doubt my deaf ears could tell much of a difference.

Buckeye,

The bike looks awesome, love the color and the mods. As you know I did the same on my 06' FLHTCUSE and have not looked back. By the way, the kickstand looks just about the right length with that brick under it.
