Common misconception that a 18" tire is taller than a 16". Hole in the middle larger, outside dia almost identical.

A couple updates on my impressions of the CVO RG Ultra.

Curves, In my earlier right up I stated it just did not feel as planted in the curves, especially tight ones or fast ones requiring lots of lean.  Well I fixed that in Daytona.  It was not cheap, but I put a set of Ohlin HD 159's on the bike.  Spring for my weight, then the Factory techs helped me dial in compression and rebound, and Sag.  HUGE improvement, feels very planted in the rear now.  Really found out just how good once we got back in the curves of East TN,  felt every bit as good as my Skunk did or my CVO King.  Ride is firmer, but not harsh.  I had Progressive 944's on my 09 CVO RG, these are way better than the progressives.  Of course the 12 SERG and 13SERK have the premium low shocks from HD, which are way better than the air shocks on the 15 SERGU, these Ohlins are have a better more compliant ride than the HD premium, both are similar in the fitness and feeling planted.

Deceleration Pop  Had the bike tuned by Doc, big improvement.  Fullsac DX head pipe, 2.25 cores and screens for the mufflers.  SAE it was just over 96 hp and 113 torque.  Runs smoother, throttle response is better, power feels smoother.  Deceleration Pop is almost all gone, one pop in 700 miles since the tune.  Had to fatten up the Deceleration tables.  DOC says all 14 and 15 CVO get the pop once you change the exhaust system.  Happy with it now.

Fairing windDid a demo ride with the new Klock Werks Pro Turing windshield.  Its just a little taller than the stock shield on the CVO, but looks shorter.  Thought it was shorter until I sat on the bike.  So, as far as wind, all three vents open, ran up over 80 mph with my Willie G hat on.  Less wind than stock, but still a little.  Would have bought the shield then and there but when I put my corbin solo on, it might be too tall for me.  I am 6'1" and if it was an inch taller it would have been too tall for my liking.

My wife demoed the Klock Werks Sport.  Shield are the same physical measurement from bolts to tip, but the sport is more laid down.  Looks awesome better than the stock one on my CVO or her Special.  She liked it a whole lot better than the one joke that comes on the special.  Hers should ship in the next week.  I plan to demo her shield on my bike with my corbin solo, hope it works for me.  Sure works for her, she is 5'8".

Thanks for the detailed write up. Since I own a 2011 FLTRUSE now, this helps me understand some of the differences. I am still planning on waiting a couple more years before trading in as I want to see how they work out some of the kinks

Some notes that are interesting to me:

1. The tires now are not 18's like I have on my '11. This means more of a marketplace for something other than the stock Dunlop's. With the 18's on my '11 my only choice is Dunlops

2. With the smaller tires I am surprised to hear the bike rides higher. It would seem like it would be lower, especially given HD's push right now for more lower height bikes. ???

I don't think it rides higher.  I did two different demo rides and both times I thought it sat lower than my 2011.  The bike seemed smaller to me.  In fact I noticed my knees where higher and closer to the handlebars.

Could feel smaller, which is is not due to 5 inches more pullback in the bars.  It could also be the grips are lower, or closer to the seat.  Also the Speedometer and Tach are now partially over the handle bars instead of fully in front of them, so they are closer.  The dash is also closer.

Once I put the same seat on my 15 SERGU from my 12 SERG my knees and legs seem to be in the same position.

Thanks for the info guys. Considering an upgrade, took one for a ride yesterday, liked it a lot and had some questions which you have pretty much covered.
Cheers Tom

Thanks guys for all the reviews. I picked mine up last Saturday (Carbon Dust/Autumn Sunset) and it has been raining since so no seat time yet. I'm still trying to figure out all the controls and how to load maps into the Nav system. It just all seemed so easy on my  2011 FLTRUSE--I'm sure once I get it figured out it will all be easy on this one too. I'll keep watching this thread to make sure I have all the latest info.

Mine was delivered yesterday.  Sitting on it and figuring out the controls last night and today I wore the battery down.  Got her on a charger now.  Glad I'll have plenty of time to figure this thing out this winter.  Lots of bells and whistles.  I wish I would have been better at video games as I think it would have helped with this thing!

FLH91, have you figured out how to put her in Accessory mode?  Less stress on the battery.

Hi SBlair,  Yes I did have it in Acc mode most of the time.  I'm guessing the dealer drained it down and didn't hook it up to a charger.  Plus the garage was pretty cold yesterday as it was only about 18 degrees outside....  Its still charging as I right this.
Thanks!
