This little guy at about 30 cents can be a very nice upgrade.

This is just a 1" rubber end for a chair leg that I found at the local hardware store. I didn't like that on our blacked out bikes that the magnetic covers for our quick release mounting hardware still expose the inner chrome ring on the front mount, so I bought a 4 pack of these little guys for $1.29 and proceeded to hack the end off of 2 of them and here is the final result......
