I have the 2015 CVO Limited, getting reading for a road trip and while not having any real change in the why the starter cranks the engine, it has always had a slight drag at the beginning of crank, I thought I would check the battery and charge rate.
These are after the bike sat for 6 + hrs measured at the remote trickle charger connection
Key off 12.85 volts
Key on engine off 12.34 voltage
Cranking voltage 8.35
Idle charge rate 13.82 [ did not raise RPM after start up ]
2500 RPM charge rate 14.02
Idle charge rate 14.02
Cold Cranking amps rating is 385, tested at 335, at the battery
Getting the 500 cold cranking amp battery on it's way

I just put a big Yusa gel battery that someone posted on here in mine last summer and the difference is incredible. I strongly recommend one of these batteries. Good luck.

Ditto what Cdave said. 15 CVO S.G. changed to a 50 CA Yuasa gel improved starting a lot.

For those who may not be as familiar with battery characteristics and testing, the cranking voltage is the big tip-off the battery is toast. As shown in Joel's results, with no load the battery shows the normal fully charged voltage for an AGM of 12.8 V. People often just stop checking at that point, assuming the battery must be OK, and start looking elsewhere for the problem. A load test, which is approximated by checking the cranking voltage, is the gold standard for checking the condition of a battery. Applying a load equal to 50% of the CCA rating of the battery with a load tester, the voltage should be 9.6 V or higher after 15 seconds. In this case using the cranking volts as an approximation of a load test, you can see the capacity of the battery has been severely reduced. I'm somewhat surprised it still fired up (must be the compression releases, bikes without them probably wouldn't spin over fast enough to start).

My similar bike after two years indicated 8.2 and still started (slowly) everytime, right up till I changed the battery. Never thought about compression releases helping but you are probably correct. Bought new battery from Battery Mart, be three years in October had no problems as of yet.

Just pulled the battery and found the cold cranking amps tag states 405 cca and production date is May 2015.
My statement of 385 cca was from a battery book. Sorry I assumed it was correct.
Guess the battery life was close to average.
Went with the Interstate YZ32HL 500 cca
Mainly do to they delivered inside 45 minutes and the transport truck should be here Monday or Tuesday to pick the bike up and take it to Las Vegas.

Even the new post won't post them so take the letters below to add to the battery number.
