Extra O2 Bungs - Fullsac DX Pipe
« on: February 15, 2013, 02:53:12 PM »

I'm going to purchase a set of the Fullsac DX Pipes and was wondering if I really needed to have the extra O2 bungs installed. What will I be losing out on if I don't have them installed?

It's a bit confusing to me as well. But I was reading some psots about the Fullsac DX pipe and one person said he had ordered his with extra O2 bungs for tuning. I didn't understand that fully, so I thought I would toss to see what response I would get  ;)

Could be the larger size (18mm) I think that moco used to use.   Tuners using wide band sensors require those.

Yep, now it makes sense. I definitely would not add them. You have to keep them capped unless using a shop that tunes wide band. Once again , my opinion..........don't do it, use a shop thats no longer in the 90's. Just MHO, of course.

It is for the tuning.  If you have a 2009 bagger the stock o2 sensors are 18mm & if you have 2010-newer bagger the stock o2 sensors are 12mm.  So if you have a 2010- newer bagger with 12mm o2 and you want to upgrade your pipes you obviously order pipes for 2010-newer. Well if you buy a tuner with auto tune for a 2009- newer bagger the o2 sensors on the auto tune are 18mm.  The fix for other brand pipes is to either weld 18mm bungs on your new pipes or order pipes for a 2009 bagger even if you have a 2010-newer so that the pipes come with the 18mm bungs already.

Fullsac is offering the option to have both ports put on so if dont run auto tune now you can use your stock 12mm holes and plug the 18mm holes. Then if you ever decide to upgrade to auto tune you will switch to the 18mm holes and plug the 12mm.

Hope I didn't confuse anyone. Basically if you plan to Auto tune get 18mm if not go 12mm if undecided get both.

Thanks guys! I knew if enough time elapsed common sense would prevail. I will be placing my order for the appropriate bungs for my 2013 Ultra Classic.

Better to have them and not need them, than need them and not have them.  It doesn't hurt to have them blocked off, but it really helps a tuner to be able to add in extra O2 sensors to tune.  I'd also rather run the extra bungs than to drill in rivnuts.  I sold my C pipe because it did not have both bungs and bought the new D pipe because it does.

My understanding is when you are having your bike tuned on the dyno, the tuner can use the extra bungs for tuning and get a more accurate reading than putting the sensors for tuning in after the mufflers.

The  CX and DX Pipes come standard with a single set of 12mm 02 ports down low. For an additional 20.00, they can be ordered with dual sets of 02 ports,
12mm down low and 18mm up high. One set of 02 plugs is included with the dual 02s, customer choice of size. Most people do not need dual 02s. A couple of
scenarios as mentioned may be a tuner who prefers using the 18mm ports for his AFR samples. A guy who has an 2009. Anyone running after market EFI products that
use 18mm 02 sensors. The majority of our Dual 02 sales are to dealers who want the sales option for the 2009s.

Hope every one had a safe weekend!

That sounds like you've got all the bases covered giving everyone an option for tuning no matter what.

So what is the difference between the C and the D X-Pipe?

So what is the difference between the C and the D X-Pipe?

The biggest and most visible difference is the cross under pipe.

The C pipe uses the flattened factory cross under pipe.

The D pipe uses a fully round cross under pipe that is the same size as the head pipe.

It does not sacrifice ground clearance, fits really well.

Testing I have seen shows the D produces a little more torque down low ( around 3 pound feet).  This has been on both 103 motors and 110 motors.

Curious to see how it is on a mild build 110, with say 10.5 compression pistons, some head work, a cam, bigger injectors and Throttle body.  The difference between a C and D on a build like what I hope to see soon.  Hopefully the D will be an even bigger gain over the C.
