Got a late call the other night that one of our members was to be somewhere in the area this week.
Dick and Elaine are on their round-about way home from the the 105th. They left home on the August 23rd, went to Milwaukee and from there headed north to Canada, back around to New York and then to New Jersey.
As luck would have it, they were in Niagara Falls the same day we were 2 weeks ago, but neither of us knew it!
Dick is "Boxmaker" on the site and you may recall his little interference issue with asphalt months ago. He replaced his 06 Watermelon with another just like it which he got from a CVO member in Florida.
We first met these two at MV 06, we shared a house with them. Never met before and I think we hit it off real nice.
You would never realize from talking that these two travelers may not have a home to go to!
They have two houses, one in Houston and one on Galveston Island ......................
Preliminary reports show that the houses seemed to have survived but the pictures we found on the Internet were not real clear.
They are taking it in stride though with the "what me worry" position - what are they going to do anyway - no one can get on the island yet and even if they could contractors are liable to be few and far between.
Anyway, we met up early Tuesday afternoon, had lunch, cruised the Jersey shore and then had dinner. They spent the night with us and then I led them through all the back roads down to Delaware where we parted.
With any luck they will stop by at MV and visit again with the group.
This picture was taken at the 9-11 memorial in Monmouth County. That is the NYC skyline in the background, with the two empty spots.
