After trying several seats for my 04 SEEG I finally ended up with a seat that both my passenger & I find comfortable - the 05 SEEG seat. I hated the 04 seat, it was like sitting on a flat wooden plank and the passenger seat was no better. The 05 seat is softer, has a seat pocket in the riders seat, the passenger seat is wider with more padding, and I don't feel the seat stitching on my butt. I'm glad I made the change. Here is a pic of the 05 seat installed on the 04 for anyone who might be thinking of doing the same.

What works even better (according to my butt) is the seat off the 03 SERK.  Also has the adjustable back rest.  They can be found on E-bay.  Spook.

I think the 05 Seat looks great.  I liked it when I first saw it on my buddies 05 SEEG.  I have to say that I do think that my 04 seat looks better than the 05 if you run without Tour Pack or passenger back rest.  That is why they made that stuff detachable. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]  
When I go long distance, I slap the road Zeplin and the Tour Pack on.  I'd post a picture of that if I could figure out how to get the digital pictures from the photo album to the e-mail.

I can confirm the comfort of the 05 seat, I did 5 hours straight, 1 fuel stop absolutely no problem.

You thought the stock 05 seat was comfortable?  Oh my (aching butt)?  Must be something different about British posteriors after all  [smiley=7.gif] .

Apparently, my Norske ancestry has endowed me with an ample posterior(among other things)…

I have ridden at least three long distance rides with the stock seat:

1. July 2004 – 1115 miles in 22 hours (IBA)
2. August 2004 - Sturgis and back the long way – 4500 miles in 13 days.
3. March 2005 – 1556 miles in 23 hours (IBA)

Admittedly, I felt my arse talking back a little on the March ride, but overall I have been relatively pleased with the feel of the seat. (Or is it the LACK of feel?)

I plan a 100ccc ride later this summer with no seat change planned.
(100ccc = Coast to coast to coast in under 100 hours)

I DO however like the design of the 05 seat better with it’s slightly mo better eye appeal!

As I get older, I am sure I will change my position regarding seats, however at this point I have no issue with the stock '04 SEEG seat.  In addition, the Fatboy has a Badlander seat and the chopper has a Danny Gray seat with little to no padding.

Like others, the most miles logged in a day with any of these seats is 970.  The end result was not my a$$, but my legs and getting them over the gas tank.

Someone pointed me to the web site once for the "Iron Butt Association" and their various rules for earning the awards.  Before seeing that site I'd always thought it was just a phrase tossed around to describe distance.  Didn't know it was a "real" thing."  

But they've got rules; and paperwork.  Who wants to do rules and paperwork when you're riding......  Don't need no steeenking patch  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]
