Longer or different angle kickstand
« on: March 02, 2009, 09:25:54 PM »

Since I re-did the suspension and changed it back to the stock running height, I was wondering if anyone knew of a longer or "different" angle kickstand for the Electric glides.

I would like to move the bike a little more towards vertical when parking.

Might check a std ultra parts book and see if they list a different part # for it don't know if they used a longer stand.,  I raised the front of the 04 to stock road king height and the rears are 12 1/2 " which is right between stock and lowered and haven't had any issues with it leaning to far.

I went with the eagle talon kickstand.  Looks good, but don't know if it will make it any more vertical.

I raised my '05 SEEG back to "stock" height and have had no issues with the sidestand length.  Bike sits the same as my '03 Road King.

Its not that it leans to far, just that one of the first things I noticed when I first sat on the SEEG was how easy it was coming up off the kick stand.
The first thing I noticed after re-doing the suspension was how much just 1" in suspension height added to the the effort.

Put the tour pak on, put a bag on top, load up for a trip and you really notice the difference.

Yeah, there is a difference when the bike is loaded.  I bought it used and raised it almost immediately as I did not like the harsh ride with the lower rear shocks (6' with loooong legs so I didn't need it lowered) so I can't recall if it was any easier.  Maybe check with HD to see if there is a difference between the two or check to see if anybody has lowered a stock bike (RK, EG, etc.) and feels that they need a shorter sidestand.

Duane,

Several of us have changed out our '09s to a new bracket as was discovered by Chip. I don't know if this retros to our '05s or not.
