And that's when the fight started.
« on: October 02, 2013, 10:03:01 PM »

Last Sunday, cruising down the road on a charity ride, somewhere between Tottenham and  Barrie, ON, a lifter failed.  Or something.  That's when the fight started, inside the motor.

So, 730 miles from home, 100 miles from where I had to be at work the next day, had to tow to hotel near Barrie HD and spend the night.

You guys have heard it all before, so I'll spare the gory details.  Barrie HD came with high recommendations, and they seem to be stepping up to the plate.  Even going to replace the compensator with an updated unit, front and rear wheel bearings, new oil cooler.  Thank God for ESP

I guess I'm not going to get into the 100K club, being stopped just short of 81k (miles)

Now to figure out the logistics of getting it back home  :-\

I have thought about upgrades, however, I have 15 months left on the ESP.  I'll let them handle it this time, and put money in the bank for the future.

if it was me I would still consider using better lifters like S&S and also better cam bearings, say Torrington.  These have been among the bigger problem areas in these motors.  Sad that these are relatively cheap parts to purchase
