Is the 63 the twin turbo or is that the 65? Either way I'm sure it's a blast to ride/drive. The AMG school at Roads would also be a hoot...love that venue anyway but to drive/ride it would be one of those bucket list dealees. Again congrats....
SL63
The 2012 is the last naturally aspirated 8 cylinder model and 6.3 liter.
In 2013 through 2015 the motor size was reduced to 5.5 liter and the twin turbo's were added. The standard horsepower on these is 577hp. The performance upgrade increases it to 630hp.
SL65
The 2012 is a 12 cylinder naturally aspirated motor that produces about 5hp more than the SL63 and is 300lbs heavier due to the weight of the 12 cylinder verses the 8 in the SL63.
I think the 2013-2015 SL65's are now biturbo's and agin due to the weight of the block about as fast as the SL63 line.
The Black Series for both models is a whole different animal more horsepower and torque.
It's only a matter of money.
AMG Driving School
What AMG has done is secure time at the very best tracks all over the world. You can register for a Basic, Advanced or Expert class. (You must complete each of the classes in order.) Also you have to own a AMG vechicle to be allowed to drive.
You get to drive all of the new AMG cars (not your own) so tire wear, gas and damage if any is on them.
I can only say that everybody discovers what their own personal limitations are and if your smart you don't press the issue. Kinda like learning how to lean a motorcycle properly.
Porsche ha a similiar program as does others I am sure.
