Mark, I'm pretty sure my 82",88", and 96" all got better in town mileage than that.

You're right Roger, I never even thought about that. My '01 with 96" got way better than 25mpg and it was a heavy Ultra too.

Something's not adding up here.

In all fairness Steve Cole did offer to look at my bike. The only problem is he would have to work on it as his schedule permits, squeeze in 15 mins here, 10 mins there, and it would probably need 3 weeks. That's not going to work for me as the bike is my sole source of transportation. That's when I decided to take the bike back to Gene, as he was personally recommended to me by Steve Cole.

Right now it looks like I either have to find a good competent tuner down here in LA, or head back north to Bob again.

Mark;
The 06 ECM has the capability to run in closed loop mode. 02's can be added very easily and have the bike retuned with a calibration files that supports closed loop operation.
I did this to my 05 and it never ran better!

Jim, I have thought hard about that too. I still need a good base map tune first, right?

I would think so but I would ask Steve Cole if there is a way to convert your current calibration file to a calibration that would support the 02's...

Jim,

Gene Thomasen said he could do the ECM conversion for me for $300. I'm just not sure I want to use his tune as the baseline for the auto calibration. Even with that powerful tool, I may still need another dyno tune to begin with.

Chains,

Do you think your bike is tuned too lean to get those mpg numbers?

Mark, I don't think so, doesn't appear to be too lean.
